Does BMW have a run group that allows passing anywhere at COTA?

Yes, the race run group, and in the parking lot.

I would take it if the hand came out, yes. Actually just curious knowing that MVP advanced couldn't pass on the entire track I wondered if that's a COTA rule. I won't be there...I got my fill of BMWCCA DE's last w/e. Not so good traffic management in the "A" group.

Shake, passing in the parking lot is heavily monitored...don't try it.

Good question. I don't know.

The Driver's Edge group usually allows passing anywhere for the top RED group and instructors but limited passing at COTA when we were there last January. Makes me think it's a COTA rule.

I'll be there Thur(pm)-Sun and have signed up for a garage. Plan is to garage with ShaneNBake and Surlyn Kid... Come on by.

I'm in a white .2RS #180.

I found passing with MVP to be no real issue, only restriction was in the esses and 15-18.

I'll be instructing all three days, arriving Thurs PM to sign up for garage space.

Last year was passing any where with a point by in the Instructor Groups, others had designated passing zones.

Just got a note that they are assigning garages after all, so never mind trying to set up a RL block.....

Just saw that. Cannot pull out of garage toward track onto grid either. Need to back out or enter garages from hot pits to go through backwards. Not very logical to me. MVP system worked like a champ. I want to pull off track, refuel at my truck, and then pull into garage. This makes that a headache.

Apparently there's garage space available for Friday and Sunday, but not Saturday. Not too interested in moving in, moving out, and then moving back in again.

On the good new front, it looks like each instructor will either get one C student that they'll be with all run sessions, or an A & B student that in all likelihood will run solo for some or most of the time. I'm hoping for the latter so I can get on the road at a decent hour for the long drive home on Sunday.

There's no way that I could make COTA during the first part of the year. Are there any BMW or PCA events at COTA later on this year??? I wouldn't mind bringing Violet out there.

Hmmm, very tempting. How's the weather out there in May? Brutally hot and humid? I run in the advanced groups at the PCA and BMW CCA events out here in So Cal.
