991 GT3 stop sale affect on 997 prices?
With the 991 GT3 stop sale, has anyone noticed any affect on 997 GT3/RS prices? I guess in the long run it really depends on what the issue is but the silence from Porsche is deafening at this point. I would think this would just solidify the already high prices of the 997’s.
BTW, has anyone ever heard of a car manufacturer issuing a stop sale before? Gotta feel for the guys that have had theirs delivered or are waiting for the car…

Well, I certainly hasn't hurt 997 prices, but I kind of think the negative views held regarding the 991 have already been factored in. If anything, I think the 996/997 market has begun to cool as of late.

The asking prices for 7.2 GT3s on PCNA site have definitely crept up from last year. The cars are now in the 115k-130k range (with one 103k, 32k miles outlier). Where as, last year most cars were in the 100k -115k range with few even in high 90s.
The cars also generally have higher miles than they did last year (understandably). Like last year you could still find few <5k cars for 115k range. Now even 7k cars are 120+.
Of course how much this is an indication of the real market, I am not sure. RL classifieds have much better deals. I also don't think it probably has anything to do with the stop sale. It is not like the 991GT3 customers are enmasse cancelling their orders and buying the 7s. It probably has more to do with the the 7s being the last manual/mezger/analog GT cars.

I bought my 996TT after 8 years with 5K miles mint condition! Do you think everyone drive their GT3s daily and on the track? Some bought it because it's cool and has a big wing. They keep it in the garage because they have 4-5 other toys.

I don't think the prices have crept any higher since the stop sale was issued...probably because the prices are already pretty inflated due to lack of PDK, etc. I fully expect that the prices will come back down a bit but I think the days of finding a .1RS for $85k are gone. I also think that long term they will go back up...at least for nicer cars and definitely for unused garage queens that will bounce from collection to collection with little use until they end up in a Sloan ad 15 years from now.

i have been tracking .1 GT3 KBB values for the last couple years about every couple weeks (i am in finance and a geek), you definitely see a bounce in prices from ~feb through Aug, then a slow down going into winter. so regardless of 991 GT3 misfortunes, prices should be firm for a while. I know KBB isnt always realistic, but i think the trend is accurate.
Once you factor in how well these cars hold their value, the cost of ownership for these is probably lower than a new 3series.
