Default 997 GT3 Extended Warranty

From a quick forum search, it looks like people are having trouble finding warranty programs on the GT3s. For a 2008 GT3, does anyone have any warranty recommendations?

Depends a lot on your driving habits and risk profile. If you expect relatively low miles and maintain the car well, my recommendation is to not get a warranty. Tracking your car or not following exactly the maintenance schedule will also cause potential claim issues. I got an EasyCare policy and they refused to cover my first claim. I cancelled the policy and put the $4200 back in my pocket. 18 months later, zero issues that would have even qualified on paper for a claim. They call it insurance for a reason. You will of course hear of "winners"....ie people getting new engines, sometimes numerous times! Maybe that is why it is hard to find a policy.... Anyway, it is a personal decision. Good luck, whatever you do.

As long as you follow maintenance schedules these cars are bulletproof. Save yourself the money, especially since these policies dont always cover you like they claim they will.

In the same boat. I mostly want to ignore the lack of warranty and just keep cash on hand for anything that comes up. Only things that concern me are catastrophic failures like the engine going. For the most part, I hear these cars are rock solid, but then I read threads like this which make me think twice:

^^ Yep. I'd rather just pay my 3-4k now than to be worried about a crazy engine failure over a 4 year time period. Powertrain/drivetrain failure is all I care about.

Coming up on the very very last days of my factory warranty, I stumbled upon an option recommended by another GT3 owner at a PCA HPDC. At Porsche of Arlington, they offer Resource Automotive warranties which are backed by Rosenthal Automotive Group. The cover GT3 and GT3 RS, 8 yrs (from NOW not original purchase), 80k miles, and $0 deductible under the Gold plan. It is an inclusionary policy, but still covers all the major systems. At about $4500 including the PPI, that's only 560/yr for peace of mind.

I looked around a bit for Resource Automotive and came across this link. I'm nt sure if it is the same company but it is worth a read.

I have a fidelity warranty that sounds similar to the resource one above (7yr/70k) but heard it's no longer available for gt cars

As to on line reviews - what I have found is that many reviews are from people that don't comprehend that a warranty does not cover everything or it was misrepresented by the seller

In my research, I couldn't find one company without a horror story. Folks are going to complain when not happy, and with any service or product there are bound to be some unhappy folks among thousands. I am putting more of my trust in the dealership supporting me for legit claims. I am also not worried about every little item that could break. What concerns me are catastrophic issues and hopefully this coverage would be there in those unlikely cases.

I hope I never have to use this warranty, but if I do I can report back.

FWIW I have used mine successfully on several occasions with an independent shop

Claim made
Inspector inspects
Approval given
Repair done

My sum total of claims is roughly $13k

The big one being leaking cylinder base gaskets that necessitated an engine tear down
