Thanks..the price is indeed high - very high. But I knew already since longer time that such an engine was coming up. Manthey is very expensive..but what they do..turns into gold.

I really wonder how long they will offer these kits..because Manthey is actually now Porsche!..its only a question of time...

What I was just thinking - buy a 3.8 with 10,000 miles..invest the 65K€ for the engine..and you will end up with a car that destroys anything - literally anything. I dont think any 3.8RS or 4.0 will stand any chance..even a GT2RS might fear for his life..

Man, that must be a blast to drive..

"GT2RS fear for his life", sorry don't think so, not even a GT2.

normal GT2? for sure - 530HP in the GT3 are much better to drive compared to the 530HP from the GT2..not that the GT2 has a turbo lag..but the GT3 has a much better rev band..on a small circuit the GT3 would need less shifting + the weight saving over the turbo engine- so I dont see any reason why a GT2 (as much as I love it) could be better.

OK..Gt2RS..well maybe it will be "tortured a bit"..but I think in the end youre correct..no "life threatening situation"..

GT2 is rated at 530 hp, which as others have stated, and I'd have to agree that number is understated. More like 550. With a 4k exhaust you can easily gain another 25-30 hp. Pretty close to GT2 RS pwr.

Get The Deux! Makes ZR-1's nervous.

What are these rumors of a new 4.1 Shark?
Its not a rumor, its a BEAST and it makes the 3.9 feel like a stock gt3. It also feels faster acceleration wise than a turbo in terms of putting you into the back of the seat

Price varies on condition of your motor and what needs to be done. If you are higher mileage, a bottom end refresh is suggested. Also have options what you want to do, so figure 25-35k depending what is needed and what you want.

And its not just a bump to 3.9, Alex addresses everything and doesnt let these cars leave the shop not fully sorted. That means better motor mounts, pinning the coolant pipes, doing the diff, etc

Wow...that's incredible! I love to see continued development for these amazing Mezger engines. The torque must be sensational with 4.4L and I suspect that power rating is reasonably conservative too.

Don't count out the little new guy, RK Autowerks and their 4.2L in your list of engine builders!

Too bad that it seems as though the Manthey 4.4L and Sharkwerks 4.1 can't be done on the 3.6 motors...

9400rpm - is that right, seems very high

Not wanting to put any negative slants on the US offerings (I like Sharky) but it is worth pointing out the development which Manthey and RS Tuning put into their engines before releasing them for street use. Lots of racing and engine dyno time, strip downs measurements etc etc. The RS Tuning 4.5l has a 6 month schedule.

As for how fast these are I was told the RS Tuning 4.3 GT3 street conversion which is 534PS @8400rpm and 517NM @ 5300rpm was "as fast" as a GT2 RS when track testing in Europe.....

You make good points, the NA powerband will be easier to maximize from a driving standpoint.

But the TORQUE! The GT2 will still have a massive torque advantage. I think on a tight twisty track, the NA 530 hp will win. And a track with long straights, the GT2 should win. Will be close either way though.

4.1 can be done on 3.6, you will just end up with essentially a 3.6 motor minus the case in spare parts.
