Dealership service.....
So I called about a few maintenance things for the car...
My car's brakes are now squealing so I called to ask how much it costs to replace the pads and they quoted $1700 for the the front which includes changing out the rotor and the pads. I asked what it costs to do just the pads and they said they have to do both rotor/pads "because if the pads are already low, the rotors will be too". That's a first I've heard for any car I've owned. With only 18k miles, I find it odd that the rotors would need replacement. Is this just something I need to get used to with GT3 ownership..?
Also asked about disabling my PASM warning light and they said they won't do it as it's not allowed by Porsche.
This was Porsche of Beverly Hills. I wish I had some time to drive farther for independent shops in socal, but being in Santa Monica..my choices are limited.

Only street. Previous 2 owners tracked it. I got your PM. I'll give Redline a call. Do you think he can also clear my airbag light and the PASM warning?

Pads may be good just need a cleaning?
Buy the parts and I'll help you do the swap. It's so easy. You only (typically) need new rotors if they measure thinner than spec OR they are cracked to the edge from the holes.
I don't know how many hours a dealer charges but it shouldn't be more than 1.5hrs per axle.
A reasonable way to estimate, OEM, suncoast parts prices (assuming your car is a non-pccb gt3):
2x front rotors: $690
Front pads: $315
Front caliper bolts: 4x $6 - $24 (may be able to reuse...??)
Pad sensors: $70 (or you can just tie them up if yours haven't tripped the warning yet)
Parts: $1,099
If your rotors are good then it's pads only and I 'think' the front pads on the 350mm can be removed w/o removing the caliper which means you just need pads + maybe the sensors)

Why is PASM warning on? Airbag? U have aftermarket seats/suspension?

PASM is on due to aftermarket suspension. Recently airbag warning came on during a drive. I have the 996 euro GT seats.

+1 although the dealer should assess the rotor wear and if it does not meet the factory criteria, they should not replace them... i.e not below min thickness, nor exceed the crack specs (+6mm??? or cracked to the edge)...

If you don't mind driving the 60 miles to Ventura for honest work at a reasonable price, make an appointment with Jason Duarte. Porsche blood runs through his veins. No bull!
He is the only one allowed to work on my GT3.

Had Jason work on my car a few times. Even facilitated quick turn around to make track day.

Considering taking it to Red Line in Culver City. Owner suggested Pagid Sport pads. Are these decent for a primarily street driven car?
