Default Laguna Seca 90db Update Requested

My 2007 GT3, with Sharkwerks center section does fine at Laguna with the 92db sound level enforcement. I have the muffler bypass cutout switch and turnout exhaust tips.

Thinking about trying to run a 90db event in February. Has anyone actually met the 90db level in a 2007 GT3? If it will help out and get me to 90db, I can put the stock center muffler back on.

Not interested in wild guesses - practical, on-track experience would be appreciated.

Thanks, Doug

Last August we had a group of six Porsches at Laguna Seca, and four (4) of the six were black flagged for exceeding the noise limit: my RSA with side delete, a completely stock 2007 GT3 with downturned tips, a GT2 and a turbo!

Our only choice was to accept the stretch from Turn 5 to the bridge as a no fly zone. After waving off many passing opportunities so I didn't blow the noise limit, I learned that there is one exception: when there is more than one car, the noise monitoring equipment cannot distinguish between the cars. Even if they know one is loud straight pipes pro racer and the other a hybrid, you get a free "pass"!

Doug, my 2008 GT3RS has the Fabspeed center muffler and stock side mufflers and can pass the 90db sound limit with the exhaust vaccum valve plugged. I requested a sound check and was told 87db. The Fabspeed center muffler is slightly louder the stock center. So far, I've done 3 track days with the 90db limit without being black flagged for sound.

i got blacked flagged. Car only has fabspeed center muffler.

I did NOT activate the sport exhaust to open valves- and got a 91.8 at 3800 rpm.

I had to throw away going into turn 5 all the way up to the bridge. Every lap.

Screws everything up - till the corkscrew.

I have read having the valve plugged causes a lot of issues hence i did not do it.

Still shocked you got 87... i never turned on sport exhaust and got 91.8.

Pretty soon they'll lower the db limit to 85 and only electric cars will be able to pass.

Pretty soon no we'll only have 90db days and it will become so much of a hassle to pass sound there that no one will go anymore and the track will close down. It's unfortunate but I think that most of us realize that the writing is already on the wall for Laguna Seca

I went when they had a 105db day last year and that's enough for me. I'm not going to bend over backwards to try to pass a 90db or 92db limit. To me, track and db limit does not go together.

All the drivers need to start hounding the City Council and show how much money drivers spend when they are in town. Then explain to Council how much lost revenue there will be if everyone goes away. All the whining homeowners that moved close and then complain can suck it. I live 2000 meters down range from a gun range. I knew it when I moved here. If the range has been there forever, but neighbors complain and there are homes going in WAY closer. The LS local homeowners are a bunch of asses.

Unless the drivers are the ones raising hell to City Council, only the homeowners side gets heard. They need 100 drivers show up to one meeting and all exercise their time to speak which is typically 3 minutes.

The pink overlay you get very screwed up. The red overlay is where you lose tons of time. The sector with pink/red over lay-is no fun imo.

Lose about 4-6 seconds imo.

You lose 4-6 seconds by having to lift through 5-6? I lost about 0.8 seconds last time I measured. It didn't seem to impact the run up to the corkscrew that much.

I definitely won't make any effort to pass 90db and may even stop going to 92db days as well. Ridiculous...
