Question Question in regards to 200 mph 2014 Vette w/ cool video

Question for the statisticians.... I have had about 8 911's including 2 GT3's. I dont follow stats or specs much, but as you will see they are very proud of the stock Corvette running over 200 mph. My question is, haven't we been there done that, long before 2014. I'm sure not on the Texas streets, but somewhere. Also curious why they skipped a couple gears?

Are we sure that's a stock C7? Anything with a big Hennessey banner on the windshield would have me question that. I'll watch the video!

I watched it and it's an HPE600, which I assume means their 600hp kit?

I might be missing the boat on what they are getting at....

I'm sure 200 mph is nothing new in a hopped up Vette, other than this is the 2014.

It is pretty neat that he has a lot of clout or money to get a major road closed for a high speed run.

I guess I did take note that it was eeezy breezy and the car set down ;-)

I could be wrong but not many cars in the $60K range that you can throw on a few engine bolt ons and go 200mph on a stock chassis'd car. If there are others, what are they?

As to closing the road, I heard on a podcast that they were testing the toll equipment and that he was contacted.... ie will the toll reader read the chip in your car at warp speed

It did

Podcast was either Hooniverse or The Smoking Tire

This new tollway is 5 minutes from my house. Hennessey's shop is about 25 minutes from my house so he gets invited to a lot of local stuff (he's does great things to cars and is cool cat). First off, suspension was stock but I doubt anything was stock on the motor (hence, the button in his left hand that he was pushing beyond 150 mph). Secondly, I think the big deal revolved around the fact that it was the first time a C7 had hit 200 mph. Lastly, I'm extremely disappointed that they did not give me call to demonstrate what a 5 year-old stock GT2 with a six-banger could do on the same stretch - I mean really, I'm just down the road for crying out loud :-) Anyway, They opened it to the public toll-free until Feb 1 last Friday so I jumped up early and took a spin in the GT2 before the rest of the idiots got the memo. 15 miles of fresh, smooth concrete, no cops and nothing but pasture and cows for now. I did have to school 2 youngsters in a supercharged Mustang Shelby on the trip back. I tried not to bite but there was not a car in sight. Probably on youtube now. Anyway, gotta love Texas.

The trigger for the nitrous setup.

Top speed on a stocker is 190ish. So it needs a little helper to get to 200.

Exactly Mark,

That's what I did'nt understand.... all the hoopla, but I guess if the big bowtie isnt used to having their plastic car going 200 mph it would be a big deal i guess and Mr. H would be the man to help do it.

I am all for you dragging that bad red beast of yours down there and showing them how a German stocker gets it done. LOL
