Salvage RS, scavenged for 130K?
Wow...
Car full of salt water over the seats
PCCB sold off
OEM wheels sold off
And still asking for 130K....wow.
Is the 991 GT really that antithetical?
Sorry I am so stunned by this that I have to say it out loud.

NO WAY they will get that. Unless it's a 4.0. Since you didn't share a link, I can only guess it's a 997.2RS. As crazy as the RS market has been, most of the cars going for big money are extremely nice examples. I don't think the high mile or beat up cars have moved in the same type of manner. So this car is destined to sit for a while IMHO

Or some poor bastard doesn't get told about the salvage title.

It is sickening to see how desperate people are getting into making the $. What is going on Taking the parts that can make easy money and make more money by selling salvage title car. Wow wow wow what is going on this guy or guys brain. He or they should be a professor at Havard business school

So basically, they can have a 997.2 RS SEMA show car with only 10K on the clock for 5K more and not have to spend 30-100K in repairs. Or they can spend 16K more and be done with it and not have to worry about the future headaches that a Saltwater car may bring in the future. It's ludicrous, they obviously don't know the RS buyer very well. Is this the RS that had the step by step restoration done on it after the Hurricane Sandy disaster? Because there was a thread on 6Speed that took us through it and they did a great job, but any car with a Salvage title is going to have to be sold at a big time discount! If this car isn't that one and still needs all the repairs, like I said above, 30-100k. They're smoking crack!

I think its crass to comment in the classified section, especially when its a sponsor. However its open season here. What I find unbelievable is that its being offered by an authorized dealer.

stunning to see that listing. i guess its a case of buyer beware but it would be really sad if someone who is interested in owning a RS thinks this is a viable option.
geoff must have priced this based on Byers pricing.

A minor Carfax ding wouldn't bother me if the repair was perfect but a salvage title on a car like this would be a deal breaker for me unless there was a substantial (>50%) discount from actual market value. A salvage title is "forever".
With that said, the repair looks nicely done and the RS is gorgeous. But the fear of future saltwater intrusion issues would freak me out.

Any price aside, the biggie for me is SALT WATER. If I were to pick that up the PPI would include pulling all the bottom covers off the car and ripping the carpet out, door panels off, and looking INSIDE electronic components for any salt residue. Salt water is nasty. I'm about 200 yards from the shore and I see what the salt air does to stuff here daily. There are just too many unknowns over time. I'd take an accident salvage with a well documented repair from an excellent shop over a salt water flood car any day. Wish the seller and the buyer the best.

I'm just waiting for the hype/sensationalism to go away on the 997's. Porsche needs to speed up that 991 GT3 production volume!

am uninformed walk in buyer with an RS boner will fall for the "its as good as new" sales pitch, seller knocks $10K off the price to get it done "today" -- buyer thinks they hit a homerun and seller definitely hit a home run
then look for the "new here, just bought an RS" thread within a week or two of the transaction

Even the non-salvaged RS cars at $190k+ asking prices... i have pondered this a lot lately and I just dont think that the RS 3.8 is worth almost twice as much (to me) as a regular GT3... the 991 GT3 is also starting to grow on me the more pictures and videos I see... especially in white... I would miss the clutch pedal, but if that is a desperate itch, could always add back an air cooled car for far less...

Seller has already said that they would entertain $118k (imo they'll go lower). If they're honest about what they have in it, $110-$115k is a good price.
I was surprised to see an AD selling it.
