Hey all... finally get to post on a real forum (former C2S, C4S). So I now have in my possession a well optioned/PCCB 2008 GT3RS in Grand Prix White. I do several DE/coaching days/year... I appreciate decent looks and the car will be used on the street on weekends (keeping interior intact). However, I'm more interested in go-fast bits that offer great bang for the buck. Your thoughts?

As I have been reminded on several occasions... "that's a nice shade of brown/purple on you callipers..." I found a great deal on a ST Trophy kit, and I've already got Cup car rear toe links. I know I need to pin/weld the coolant lines, and I'm doing the GT diff internals. I've also already got my current GT2 seats. I'm thinking new Bilstein Clubsport (or modified MDS) for suspension as I'm not sure I'll be tweaking the suspension that much between tracks, etc.

So, any cool bits people want to recommend or pass down for a good deal?.

These things are so much fun to play with.
Modifications are fairly simple.

If you do not wish to weld plates on your floor, try a GMG roll bar. Bolt in.
I wouldnt install a brake kit as the stock callipers with SRF fluid and decent pads are up to the task IMHO.

18" wheels would be nice along with Wheel studs. Calliper studs wouldnt hurt either.
Id be looking into a M&M side muffler delete system as well.

For suspension, you could start removing some of the rubber. Monoballs and thrust arm bushings.

Yeah, ring & pinion might be a good idea after I get a feel for the car as-is. PJ, I'll likely take you up on that splitter next time we meet up.

So Mooty, any supporting evidence on the CS/MDS Bilstein stuff? I know the consumer Damptronics stuff is entry-level, but I'm being told that the MDS stuff is very well suited to our cars and should hold up well, rebuildable, used in pro Motorsport. While I'd love to get a set of 3-way JRZ shocks, is it worth the money given the few times I'll actually mess around with the rebound/dampening, etc.

Yeah, going to take a few months to recover from the upgrade cost... So making my car anywhere a trick as PJs is a stretch. K, Ed...in the next week. James has my car right now to do the GT internals and mount up the ST kit. And the Trofeos that came on the car from the previous owner... Super sketchy, even in dry cold weather. Chomping at the bit to get out and take some turns...

Caliper studs... Good point. I found a set of lightly used black CCW C14 wheels with fresh R6s... Should be good to start out in the spring. Yeah, truck/trailer working on that...

Change out the pccb's and store them. Do guard LSD- best mod ever. Shorter r/p nice but not needed. Suspension is probably the best in terms of laptimes are concerned. Mike

I ran both my RS porsches in Vancouver on Bilstein B16 damptronics.
The PASM button still functions with the kit which was nice for a street car.

They are noteablly stiffer then stock. Especially when lowered.
Great for sticky tires on the track however.
I enjoyed them at Mission, ORP and Pacific Raceway. Did their job.

Trouble with buying adjustables is the constant tuning at tracks between sessions, so If you can hold onto stock for at least a season you will know what you are looking for in terms of dampning.
Ohlins make great shocks so I am told. JRZ and KW also. But KW customer service has been questionable.
You can also buy really good hi end Bilsteins as well as TPC tuned damptronics as alternatives too.

I have been having sucess with my tarmac rally shocks as they provide confidence over any surface at speed. At Sebring I can eat rumble strips all day long and could even skip a few turns and ride the infield if desired

Thanks for the feedback Tcsracing1. I appreciate the recommendation for newer drivers to leave things alone and learn the car, and most important, how to drive. That said, I've been doing this for a while, and I've been told I can hold my own in terms of skill. I've run a few 997s now on the Damptronics (my old 997.1 C2S and my recently sold C4S). On the C4S... I had Damptronics, H&R sways, Cup rear toe links, GT3 control arms and front axle spacers... ran -2.6 up front with R6s.

I know I want/need more than OEM/Damptronics... The question is... What's the best bang for the buck for our cars? Has support by Moton really subsided in recent years? Are the JRZs worth the money? Anyone else have experience with the Bilstein MDS or Clubsport setup?

And you are a great driver... Jump in and do all the suspension stuff at once so you only pay for alignment and corner balance once

I think sway bars are worth the money as well
