Default Refinish center console/rubbery coated parts?

Hello.

Was wondering if anyone has had their center console refinished.

Picked up a 2007 and it had a few nicks, worn out corners, rashes from the seat bet buckle. Same for the trim around the key switch.

It's black with that semi rubber coating. Was wondering if the plastic dip stuff would work? If it does not theoretically you could just peel it off...

Thx
AEGS

Patina.

If you want it perfect you can get a new console or what a lot do is just get it sprayed/refinished. Unknown how durable that plastidip is on a center console. Checkout bumperplugs.com. You can clear bra it too.

I meant painted. If you want that rubbery finish again it may be less expensive to buy a new one. These guys may do the rubbery coating http://stickynomore.com

The rubbery surface is actually soft-touch paint. It typically doesn't wear very well. It's quite common on a lot of consumer electronics products (like tablets and smart phones). It can be refinished, as any normal painted surface can. Probably hard to find any shops who have experience painting it though.

As someone already posted, sticky nomore, is a company that got it's name from Ferrari owners, because the 90's on Ferrari's had a lot of trouble with it's rubber coated switch gear going bad. A good place to seek for DIY solutions, or other types of repair companies would be on the 348/355 sections of FerrariChat.com. Just search sticky interior bits, and you will get a thousand threads....Cheers

For my 355, I removed the sticky coating and refinished with SEM color coat. Doesn't have the soft touch but wears much better and won't get sticky. Sticky-no-more does a nice job but doesn't use soft touch paint either.

You could try this product (no experience with it myself but came across it during my 355 de-stickification process)

What did you use to remove the original soft paint/sticky mess?

Easy off oven cleaner. Some people use brake fluid but I found the easy off worked well. Go to Ferrairchat.com and search sticky parts. Loads of info.

Default Graphite gray soft touch repair

Hi All; I used a product called Hi-Tech Vinyl, Plastic and Carpet Dye, labeled HT-445 Carbon Gray. I sanded down lightly till smooth then sprayed it. Once the color was there, I sprayed on a matte clear from a distance to get the pebble finish. This was a near perfect match and wasn't sticky either.

We take these parts and put them through a rigorous routine to bring them to life, in glossy painted finishes...every day. We've been doing this since 1998. Takes 11 working days to complete it, and the finish is absolutely flawless.

Visit the site anytime at BumperPlugs.com or click this link below for console info. We can produce it for you, ship to you, and take your old one back as a core (assuming reasonable condition). Email us for more info at info@bumperplugs.com anytime.

We do the PCM Center Stack as well

I just evaluated the options. And had all mine redone to match the exterior colour. Really happy with the decision.
