Go for a ride in one, you'll be done researching.

^This! That was all it took for me.

I'd heard such horror stories about how unforgiving 911's were prior to owning one. After getting to know the car on track, it's a big fat lie. It is by far the most rewarding car I've ever driven. If you drive it like an asshat, yes, it will penalize you but so will almost any car with high limits. A properly setup and aligned GT3 is stupid fast. Add some skill and it just gets faster.

+1, I got a ride in one in 2008 and immediately ordered the RS that arrived in 2010 and bought a GT3 to carry me over. Never drove or sat in a Porsche before, except that one session I rode along in an '07RS..

I was worried about the same this but they are soo easy to drive! I never spun it even.
It goes where ordered every time and very easy to catch and adjust rotation.

Just take a few days to sort out what settings you like with a coach if you want to be extra careful and are willing to pay a bit for the shortcut.

Easier than my Rustang....

Alignment, tires and a confident right foot and you will have a blast and slay a lot of cars with "better" on-paper layouts

+1 to everything said above. If you want a cheap way to learn how to drive a rear engine 997, go out and try a 100cc clutch kart. The handling is very similar with the tail wagging on corner entry and the patience required to really make the most of the rear weight on corner exit. Karts typically have 40/60 weight distribution so pretty close to the 997 GT series.

No problem then. I used to race karts way back when I had more hair on my head than my ears.

So simply stated Porsche has driven up the value of the older 997.2/997.1/996 because some of the older farts wants a manual transmission.

Would like to see the cost analysis in a year of the values of the older GT3s. Or at least the reduction in value declination.
