Running my brand new 245/305s Monday at THill and looking forward to them. Will also be driving up from SJ. My 235/315s on the 6TT were
A bit greasy the first day so am anxious to compare the cars and setup.

I'll post up a picture when I pull the wheels off the car. I have 7 sessions on them and the split is getting worse. I'm in a bit of a pickle as I have a 3 day track weekend coming up and can expect about 16 sessions. Might have to put on a set of Hoosiers but I'm trying to find a replacement set of rear 305 NT01s if I can but it's not looking good. I'm pretty sure the issues is with the later production (late 2013) tires. Between myself and another friend we have run 7 sets of the 305/35/18s but they were all earlier 2013 production and were all perfect all the way to the cords. The one that split was week 36 of 2013.

This is really upsetting to see. This seam splitting is the same thing my Toyo R888 started doing. Toyo and Nitto are related companies. My NT01's have been fine but they where among the 1st batch that came out.

Got an update on the split 305s. I ended up swapping the rear wheels on the car thus causing the tires to roll in the opposite direction. This had the effect of causing the split to effectively "close" with wheel rotation and to my surprise the split has pretty much worn away over the last 8 sessions. I anticipate the split to be completely worn away in another couple of sessions...

Right it has something to do with the way the carcass is wounds and driving direction.
Someone explained it to me once.

Appears that way. Depending which way the tire is rotating, you are either winding or "unwinding" the tire from the carcass. I'm gonna order a set of the Kumho V710 in a 245/40/18 and 315/35/18. One of the local track guys runs it on his 6GT3 and likes it a lot. Hoosier grip and 2x the life. The diameters are nearly identical to the NT01 245/305s and price is only about $200 more than the NT01s. Hard to beat the NT01s for $1000 a set though... I hope they are available soon.

Just ordered the V710 245/40 and 315/35/18s today from Discount. $1330 out the door. Looking forward to trying these out. I was told to return the split NT01 305/35s when I get done with them and Nitto will credit a refund. They want them back so their engineering department can take a look at them. That's good service! According to Nitto they underestimated the demand of the 305/35s and did not produce enough of them.

Btw, how many heat cycles are the V710s good for? How do they compare to the BFG RA1s?
