From: Somewhere in a galaxy far, far away....
Got two Sebring winterfests on em' so thats 8 days total right there with about four 30 minute sessions per day on average.
Nabbed two days at Homestead and 2 days with Chin @ Sebring between all of it.
They have a day or two at the most now.
I do tend to drive conservative on my tires/brakes as it is an old endurance rally habit.....

Spoke with Nitto yesterday. They denied any issue with the tire but recommended I get it inspected at one of their dealers and they'll decide to replace or not. I'm not holding my breath but I'll try. If i do need to replace them, have any of u run the nt-555II’s? From the specs looks like slightly less grip due to the tread design but same compound and available in a 305, Thoughts?

QUOTE=dwost;11280849]Hey guys, I've got a question about my Nt-01's. So far I have 8 days on them and must have run over some debris. I'm no where near the end of their life but want to know if you think I should change this out? Here's a pic. As you can see its in the main tread block and is not overly deep. Do you think I can get through this season on them or should I replace it? If I do replace it should I do them both or can I get away with just 1?
DANG IT DANG IT DANG IT...This same seam split junk happened on Toyo R888. Nitto is a Toyo company and now this is starting to show up on NT01. My R888's split like crazy..had to throw away many tires. Old Toyo RA1 never ever did this, Michelin Sport Cups never did this.
Nitto NT01 were I thought going to be the drive to the track tire for me but it seems like this issue has come to NT01's too. The Toyo tire company must have changed something in manufacturing recently.
My NT01's are from September 2013 and have not split. They are getting low on tread and maybe 2 days if that left. When I got them I brought them up to temp gently and did not drive over 6-7/10ths 1st track day and 2d day brought up to temp gently and drive 7-8/10ths. After 2 track days I drove harder but always bring up to temp gradually for 3 laps.

The Nitto tech I sent the photos to and later spoke to used "weld" as opposed to "splice" when describing the issue. He told me they would offer replacement tires at a prorated price based on wear if I brought them to one of their dealers to send back to the factory. I haven't done so yet as he said they didn't know when the 305s would be in stock and I've been busy.

My 305's have about 2 days left....but I don't have anymore DE's planed until this fall so maybe by then they will sort the 305 issue out. I wish they made 325 or 335 like they did for RA1's for the rear.

I just put on brand new 305/35/18 NT01s (my 3rd set) and I'm getting the same straight across split in the tread after 4 sessions at the track on one of the rear tires. The date of manufacture is week 36 of 2013. Do you guys know the date of manufacture of your split 305s? My first two sets were flawless all the way to the cords which leads me to believe there is an issue with the newer batch of tires and maybe that is why Nitto halted production until they figure out what the issue is.
