Default Broken drop link joint - comments please ?

Having a spanner check before some high speed running and this was found with the other side "stretched" but still intact (see second pic below).

Can anyone give any advice to why this has happened, we were going to replace with new stock items but maybe we need some stronger adjustable links ?

If you've modified your ride height, then the joints may be binding. Check the angle of the pin when the car is at rest and if its substantially different than 90 degrees, replace with adjustable links.

I'm thinking they failed because your car is squatting so much under hard acceleration. You are making more power than stock, right?

Maybe its worth checking the part (06) from the GT2 RS?

Your car must be lowered?

The stock sway bar link suffered multiple binds due to geometry being different than stock.

Install a set of Tarrett or compareable drop links. They are adjustable to dial in the desired length and are very strong.
Easy fix and much needed in your case.

GMG sent me some adjustable solid bushing motorsport type made by TRG and they work perfect.

Serge, thanks for the PET screenshots, these GT2RS items are being installed. The solid aftermarket ones would be better I'm sure but I need to be back on the road and these were available, oh and they cost very little ~£40 ea !

I would have gone with adjustable to eliminate pre-load

The irony of the matter is that it takes so much patience to actually install them properly and eliminate pre-load, that the adjustment is a moot point. Most people who install adjustable droplinks don't eliminate pre-load. Since there is no rubber in the original units, there isn't a more direct connection to gain either.

This is coming from someone who used to assemble and sell adjustable droplinks for 944s, air cooled 911s, e30s, etc.
