Default Fabspeed GT3/RS

A few weeks ago a very good customer of ours dropped off his 2011 GT3rs for some upgrades. . The customer’s goal with sending us the car was to add some much needed sound, a little more power, and a lot more aesthetics.
The car arrived completely stock and the to-do list included our full exhaust package, ECU tune, dyno time, and wheels. The exhaust setup consists of our equal length headers with HJS sport catalytic converters, side muffler bypass pipes, and center maxflo mufflers with matte black tips; we also added a BMC filter to the stock air box. The ECU tune was done by us via Evolution Motorsports.

Please PM or email me schane@fabspeed.com for special forum pricing and product specials. Stay tuned for updates!

Like the simple looks of this system and the long tube headers.

However I know Fabspeed really pushes merged X type of exhaust for other 997 cars. Why did you not X/merge this system?

Here is a dyno chart of just the sport headers alone. We did not get to dyno this particular car with the full package due to time contraints.

We have previous dyno's of everything else, but we recently changed the design of the sport headers and so were more focused on those. Our changes yielded big gains in low and mid range torque, and maintained a nice bump in horsepower over stock.

This car was dyno'ed in 4th gear to keep dyno drum speeds down.

30+ ft. lbs or torque gains until 3900, then the gains hover between 10-15 ft. lbs to the wheels and 10-15 hp to the wheels. Peak hp gain of 11 hp to the wheels and 5 ft. lbs of torque to the wheels.

The graph shows the best stock run (RunFile_002) along with 2 runs of stock with Sport headers only (RunFile_007 and RunFile_008).

The center exit of the GT3 Exhaust just does not lend itself well to an X-pipe system. I'm not sure the potential gains would be worth the extra weight and complexity. Not to mention, the car sounds really good with our full package and does not have droning problems. An X would quiet the system down and we're not sure that is what GT3 owners are looking for (I know what some are thinking but it would not quiet down enough to pass Laguna Seca sound).

We are supposed the get the GT3RS back in again soon. He wanted the car for the weekend and is supposed to bring her back soon. We have been swamped with McLaren Coupes and Spiders and Ferrari 458 Italias.

Porsche is our #1 base. I might have to go buy a GT3RS..........its a great storming car with great sounds. I would have to wrap the nose real well so she doesn't get stone chipped like crazy.........juts like my 993 RS Clubsport clone I still have from August of 1994 that morphed into a streetlegal 993 CUP 3.8 over all the years.

The 1st 997 GT3 Fabspeed Motorsport intiated dyno development with was way back in 11/2006. Hedge Fund NYC buddy airfreighted her in. After 1000 miles we developed muffler bypass pipes (-lost 7HP at the tires versus stock muffler) and new small maxflos mufflers +5HP over stock.

side muffler bypass pipes (saves 40+# weight but louder) and later headers +10HP.

IN 2013 I had HJS Germany develop some super highflow very special catalytic converters . Very very expensive and exclusive to Fabspeed. The long tube headers with these HJS tri-metallic OBD2 Euro level 5+ washcoat are the #1 FIRST and best upgrade for power and sports car sound for any and all 997 GT3 cars.

The headers with stock OEM catalytic converters are the 1st and major point of restriction and exhaust flow. These new short highflow catalytic converters and Fabspeed maxflo equal length headers really allowed the 3.8liter RS engine to breathe. The DYNO result Chris posted above is with the remaining GT3RS exhaust staying bone stock. Further gains with the other Fabspeed Dyno developed stainless steel systems.

Is the GT3 3.8 liter that much different than the RS3.8? I would be looking for a car with sport seats/ buckets and do the lightweight flywheel. Eventually maybe save $20K and build a 4.0liter after getting used to the car.

Have a great weekend.
