Looks like Michelin is releasing the new Pilot Sport Cup 2 with the AMG SLS Black Series. Sounds like it incorporates improvements pioneered in the Super Sport but is a more track oriented tire. Curious if anybody has heard anything about these tires and whether they'll be available in sizes for our cars....

There is very little information out on this right now. It is purely speculation but I believe they are doing the same thing they did with the Pilot Super Sport and the 458 Italia where the tire was only made in 2 OEM spec sizes for that car. Then the following year it was produced in many more sizes and was officially released to the public. Im sure it will be a few months at least before Michelin starts marketing the tire and releases more information.

Any updates on this?
Specifically, availability in OEM fitment for 997.1 NB GT3; thanks.

You may find some info about wear characteristics in the 991 GT3 forum. I know one guy tracked his with those tires several times before the fires. Michelin's website shows proper sizes for your car http://www.michelinman.com/tire-sele...ails#techspecs
Tirerack doesn't show them in 19's though.

As you know, car will be 99% a DD, so I'm concerned with treadwear (couldn't be worse than MPSC1) and heat cycling. I am willing to try out the MPSC2 if it's available this summer.

Can't wait to see how much they cost. The Sport Cups don't last very long with track use, not sure if these will be any better. I feel like I am contributing way too much to the Michelin profits at this point. 911rox - you and I have the same car, and I really like the quote in your signature.

I think they have better treadwear rating and wet performance than MPSC with similar dry, outright performance.

Dear all,
I am working for Michelin in a European challenge, the Michelin Pilot Sport Experience:
http://pilotsportexperience.michelin.co.uk
As I am one of the experts for Michelin I have been involved in a training process in which I had the opportunity to drive a 997.1 Gt3 with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires.
I own a 997.1 Gt3 and usually drives Cup's.
There is a big improvement between Cup / Cup + and the Cup 2. I drove it in wet and also in dry conditions.
In wet, the tyre is better than the old Cup's, bit more progressive, but you can not achieve the great results of the Pilot Super Sport for example.
In dry is really really good. The grip is much higher and the feeling that you get is something that I just feel before with an slick tyre.
In Europe the 997.1 Gt3 tires are already available and during 2014 will arrive for 996 Gt3 also.
I highly recomend you to try this awesome tires.
If you have some doubt that I can help, feel free to ask.

At Sebring the info given to me by one of the heads of Michelin was that 997.2 sizes would be available in June-July time period. I saw the release memo so I figure its probably pretty accurate.

Great info, thanks.
Do you think michelin will produce this tyre in size 315/30 18?
There is a real shortage of good r comp tyres in this size .
