Thats the trouble with the new R comps, (Trofeo-R, Maxx SR) they only come in 19's for our widths...

I would like to try a set of the Nittos for my next track day. I've been trying to find out if a set of 996 Turbo Twist wheels would work on my new GT3. I've kept them from my old track duty 993 Turbo and would love to know if they fit safely on my new car.
Thanks for the advice.

Price wise they were very similar to a set of Michelins, so not cheap

I have no time on them in the wet, so cant comment there

When cold they still had reasonable grip but came to temp pretty quickly, as I understand it they run an 80 compound rubber which is similar to many slicks and when up to temp they were very good.

as far as the 18/19 debate goes, I run 18's for slicks but had 19" wheels in abundance and couldn't justify replacing them all.

overall very happy with the Dunlops

Dunlops about 3 seconds faster then MPSC+ around the Ring. Trofeo R 2 seconds faster then Dunlops. PSS about 5 seconds slower then MPSC+

I tried all of them at the Ring and this is very accurate information

Just had a set of Dunlops put on last week as Trofeo R's won't be in until mid December. I have weekends at Sebring and Daytona scheduled and the Super Sports are not enough (as you well know). Decided to try the Dunlops as I can drive to and from the track. I'm sure our Florida weather will afford me opportunity to try them in the wet. Will post my findings....

So, are the Trofeo R's not on sale yet? I can't seem to find them in the usual places. Or, are they just sold out until mid December?

I spoke with folks at Bob Woodman three weeks ago and they estimated early to mid December.

I can rung a set of Nitto NT01 245/305 on a 997 wide body for around $1100 a set. They last till the cords, sticky and can drive to the track.

Why would anyone want to spend double the price of NT01's for the GT3/GT3RS for DE's for any other street able r-comp tire?

That's a good question. Taste is one thing, double the tire cost is another!

Hi Mike

I haven't heard of anyone running these out here but price seems worth a shot

What wheels are you running?

On the Nitto site they don't show 19's at all.

Yeah Nittos only in 18". Need a second set of wheels and tires to use them. It makes sense to do that for folks that track a lot.
