Default NASA DE April 27-28

Anyone headed to the NASA spring thaw at Summit Main end of the month? Will be my first NASA event. Anybody racing in GTS? Couldn't find a way to view attendees on NASA website.

what are the rules in NASA DE? Is it point-by? Is the point by in corners or just straights? Is point-by REQUIRED? I have never heard of anyone doing a NASA DE event.... wondering why.

You guys are brave to drive Summit. I'll never go back there. Too many deer for my health.

I did this event last year. Passing with point by anywhere on track. I signed up and am going. It's OK. Races and TT's are fun to watch. Lots of different cars. I wouldn't go for the Hyperfest though. Way to crowded with carzy's on the track.

See you out there,

Stu

i did a NASA event at SP a couple yrs ago. IIRC correctly, point bys required and anywhere. you'd love it clarke: seemed to attract a lot of aggressive drivers out for bragging rights - you could put em to shame.

Clarke, I've never run NASA event so I'm not sure how its organized/run. I know that there is much more going on during the weekend so I hope its as smooth as other clubs.

Stu, seeing as I've never ran with NASA is there anything I should be aware of before the event? I read somewhere if you've modified your vehicle there are certain regulations you have to abide by. I've got the basic safety stuff.. Roll bar, seats, harness.. Anything I need to address prior to tech?

Nick, you're right about the deer. Last event I was at I had dear run out in front of me on bridge straight. Just to close to home to kick it from the schedule.

Sly & I are at Barber on April 20-21 and may leave rig/cars in AL until COTA in May -- if we get in to COTA. If not get into COTA then likely come back to VA.
Just wondering how much track time actually get.
If it is some silly little three 20 minute runs a day then forget it.

Adam, your safety stuff is the same as mine and you're good to go. They are pretty laid back. Much easier than PCA which I'm doing this weekend.

I think there was much more time on track than other groups. There are some fast cars out there but I am sure Clarke and Sly would scare a few of them. ;-)

Come on out and try it. It's early in the season so fun to be on track. I need the track time since I have been doing some Chump races and want to stay sharp.

Hope to see you all out there. I'll get the shotgun mount for the deer mounted on the roof.

C'mon, Nick! It's a great track, fast too!

NASA-DE, especially Mid-Atlantic Region, is very good and I imagine the HPDE 3 and 4 groups treat drivers like they're adults. Meaning? A good experience.

Just an FYI but if you drive with NASA and have track insurance, you have to run in the HPDE 3 group which is solo advanced. HPDE 4 is also advanced but includes the time trial cars so it is considered competition.

I am in HPDE 3 and it's not bad. Come out. The Hyperfest weekends are the ones to avoid.

I'll be there racing GTS-4, Mid-Atlantic is very well organized and you get pretty good time on the track as well. Family atmosphere, good drivers, good times.
