Always evolution, yes, but I'd lump all the 996/997s together at this point and call the 991 a new page with the new engine, new wheelbase, new chassis, new transmission, new suspension, new front/rear track. This isn't a bad thing.

1999-2011 is the same engine and transmission, even common chassis parts as the 996/997 have a lot in common. This is the Evolution GT3.

991 is an all new car altogether: different engine, different transmission, different chassis, different subframe and suspension geometry, it deserves its own forum.

The 991 GT3 forum is the place where we can share the nice advances in technology that VW is copying from Fiat such as: flappy paddles, 20" wheels, getting closer to mid-engine configuration, improving the look, 9k rpm redline, and all the nice electronics Fiat has pioneered and now the rest of the brands are following.

Yes, it can. I need to convert it to a manual transmission, quite easy and somehow affordable. 2013 Project.

I drove the my 07 Cayman this weekend (unfortunately no auto tranny offered), and it was a lot of fun playing with 3 pedals, a center console lever, and a steering wheel, it keeps you busy.

Like being the only ones not hating CL's I'm also the only one that thinks mid engine Fiats look like kit cars.

If your Fiat had PDK it wouldn't be broken all the time.

The other parts also fry or catch on fire.

There clearly needs to be a forum where members can brag about their lap times using a 991 GT3 in "automatic" PDK mode.

As if pulling/pushing a paddle w/ perfect electronic downshifts isn't already easy enough.

After spending hours reading the other threads on the 991 GT3, I have to agree with Rad. There's little enough common with the 996/997 GT3s, and there are certainly enough 'advocates' to support 2 forums.

Personally, other than the engine which I hope/expect can be swapped into a Cayman - giving me a manual, no CLs and making it even more mid-engine - I'm not hearing anything in the new car that interests me.

I like older Fiats better than the newer ones. Mid engine do at times look too plasticky.

+1 - our Dino 246 GT is a real Fiat

There are no manuals in the recent Fiats, either

One of my all time favorites.
