Wow, I can't wait for the new 991 RS to come out, there will be lot of very nice 997.2 RS' for sale. I may have to get me one of those 997.2 RS, hopefully at discounted prices, once the market starts to flood.

One can always hope,

I'm keeping my .2 GT3 unless i can get a new one with a third pedal. Would crave shifting gears too much!

The horse is out of the barn. In the future I'm afraid manuals will be relegated to the dust heap of history. There is no arguing that PDK is faster, cheaper to build in a single production line capacity, versus 2 transmission choices, potentially more reliable, no missed shift over revs, F1 uses it...blah, blah, blah. Manual cars with a proficient driver will still own the PDK cars, but PDK will narrow the gap/ beat the not so proficient. I can hear it now.... PDK allows you to concentrate on pure driving skills. What I think most will miss is the more visceral connection between man and machine, the "art" of getting it right, the heel/toe interface, I'm in control, versus the I'm along for the ride feeling. Spare me the, yeah, but what about traction control, stability control argument. You still won't miss a shift. Mind you, I don't discount a 991 GT3 / RS PDK for myself in the future, it's just that I think the baton is being passed...it's kind of sad in a way.

I too would like a manual.

But I still put a deposit for my 991RS in Taiwan last July.

Just curious, did you ever track a 997.2 in sport plus mode? It's really quite an experience.....

Yes, a 997.1 CS, a 997.2 GT3, a 997 GTS, and currently a 997 GT3 RS, in sport mode. I think you are asking if in PDK. The answer is no....I have driven the 991 and the new Boxster S in PDK sport. There is no doubt they are awesome and undoubtably fast. I wouldn't/didn't buy either. I specifically bought my 11 GT3 RS because of it's "raw" feeling. Hell, I'm a weekend warrior, with no illusions of grandeur. I just like cars! I would love to drive the PDK on the track. It would certainly make up for my many deficiencies.

Before you judge PDK, you must try out on the track in sport plus mode! I ran at Mid Ohio, Watkins Glen and VIR, and it was so much fun.....no comparision to sport mode on the street. If you get a chance to try it, you must do so!

You make good points all across the board, but you're wrong about one thing. All the business about fun/involvement/etc. aside, put the same proficient driver in a MT car and a PDK car, and he/she will be faster in the PDK car. If in doubt, check out this thread including video which appeared in this forum a week or so ago....

New Boxster S PDk- very boring on the street. I was given one to drive for a weekend. Was happy to return it.
