Default Upgrades for a gen.1 GT3 Clubsport

Hi all,

I've probably spent a week searching the net and this forum for recomendations on mods for my car. Thought that the easiest way of getting the right stuff together would be to start a thread and just ask all you guys for recommendations.

The car: A 2008 GT3 Clubsport (white)

Basic upgrades that I'm sure I want:

- Exhaust, airfilter and a flash of the ECU (I would prefer a loud system)
- 19" wheels that have an aggressive stance and preferrably concave
- Facelift kit front and rear to gen.2 with a RS gen.2 rearspoiler
- Camber setup kit
- Some kind of shifter (shortshifter and cup cables)
- Stiff engine and transmission mounts
- New brake discs and metal brakelines
- Some race stuff for the interior (steering wheel, fire extinguisher, another set of 6-point belts, intercom set with headphones)
- Cup car LSD
- Probably a singlemass flywheel?

I run the car as a daily driver during the time of year that the ground isn't covered in snow. During the summer I track the car regurally. I use MPSC tyres at the moment and really like the feel of the car with them. As the car is a Clubsport it has a rollcage and carbon bucket seats from the factory, so these crucial things are sorted out allready.

The car is in winter storage at the moment and the engine is dropped out due to the need to change the valve lifters.

So, what would you recommend and have I left anything out of my shopping list?

If you have recomendations on a shop that could help me out with most of the parts at a decent price, I would appreciate it. I live in Europe (Finland) so thats one thing to bare in mind.

Cheers,

Matias

Hello Matias,

To make it easy:

- M&M exhaust (titanium or Steel depends on your pocket), with side muffler delete and headers. Have best performance gains.
Link for exhaust only: http://racepartswarehouse.net/index....&product_id=47
Link for exhaust and headers: http://racepartswarehouse.net/index....&product_id=69
- Wheels, go BBS
Link: http://racepartswarehouse.net/index....product_id=113
- For facelift you need front bumper, and bumper lights, decklid and would go Cup wing
Link: http://racepartswarehouse.net/index....product_id=128
- No need for camber set up, just use Toe links.
Link: http://racepartswarehouse.net/index....&product_id=53
- No short shifter, just cup cables with numeric racing shifter, great piece
- engine and transmission mounts are a must, we have a group buy going on right now here on
rennlist.
link: http://racepartswarehouse.net/index....product_id=132
- PCCB or NON PCCB car ???? 350mm or 380mm ???
- Interior is up to your taste
- Guards LSD or Cup
- Singlemass flywheel with RS pulley

I believe with all you said you're more than covered ...
Let me know if you need any help or guidance.

I fully agree with Eddies recommendations. Stand up guy.

Add motorsport 4.0 ring and pinion gears to the diff upgrade, shorter gearing is a must for track use.

Alex @ Sharkwerks can help too. ;O)

Some good advice in the link provided.

Peter, mines a non-sunroof CS. Not sure why this wasn't an option for the US.

Hehe thanks mate and yeah in the US we got so screwed with DOT stuff and all the goodies went missing even on US spec RS'. Porsche didn't want to spend the extra $$ for crash testing...

- Probably a singlemass flywheel?

Do it. Make sure you replace the crank aux drive pulley and bolt with RS items torqued to the correct value (can come lose due to vib's and quicker response of the engine and cause damage)

Replace the clutch at the same time with RS series one or the 4.0l versions (popular opinion)

And while the cars in bits drop the engine and either weld or pin the alloy coolant hose spigots so they can't pop dropping all the coolant on your tyres and the track which can cause lose of control- spins etc.

Thanks for the help so far! None of the GT3s sold in Finland has a sunroof (thank god). On the other hand I think we have about 7-10 997 GT3s in the whole country. Our car tax is emission based and the GT3 has a car tax of approx. 50 % that is added to the pre tax price... Not cheep to own cars over here..

For the wheels I'm interested in something else as the BBS is quite a common wheel for Porsches. I've considered ADV1, HRE and a new brand from Britain called 3SDM.

If there are shops that are interested in making me an offer for the parts, please email me the prices: matias.henkola(a)secto.fi

I have the same issue with car prices in Taiwan. The tax really makes cars hard to buy.
I wouldn't go with ADV the wheels are more for show then performance if you'd ask me.
