OT: anyone have a new Audi s8?
I'm considering buying one - and would like to hear fellow gt3 owners opinions.
Car will be in addition to my 2010 gt3, and used mostly for daily-and or bad weather driving.
Thx

S8 is awesome. Drove one at VIR for a dealer appreciation day, giving hell rides to prospects.
Perfect for your intended use.

I drive a S6 as my daily and it's a fantastic car. My 3 year old loves the growl of the motor and is always screaming "Daddy, make the go fast sound!" The mpg is absolutely horrible though so be warned. I get about 15 but love to hammer the throttle. The S8 is too big in my opinion even though the S8 is only offered in the short wheelbase. The back seat is really spacious in the S6. The other big diff is the $25k delta in price for just a tick more straight line performance and a more cavernous back seat so you'll need to ask yourself if those are worth it to you. Thinking of looking into the RS6 Avant when and if it comes stateside

I'm going to assume that the OP is considering the new S8 (V8 Twin Turbo version) and while I haven't driven one I've heard they are quite impressive. I used to have an '02 S8 and last year replaced it with an '08 (V10) version. They were/are used as my DD and they are just great for that purpose, as Dell mentions though, the '08 does get pretty horrible mileage around city driving (totally offset by a really great sound when you get on the throttle).
One thing that I'll comment about regarding the size of them, while they are large cars they "drive" and feel much smaller (I think the aluminum construction is much of the reason for this). Also I noticed that the S8 is quite a step up in quality over the more common Audi sedans. Prior to getting the '02 S8 I had an S4 and it was striking the difference in the quality of the leather in the cars and thing like the wheel finishes. I thought the S4 was quite nice but it paled when compared to the S8.

Best car they make... I turned blue long ago holding my breath waiting for a USA RS6 Avant
me thinks the RS5 is done, the RS7 is coming, then I would presume the RS6sedan or RS4... I think the RS6 Avant is a USA longshot at best.
The new MB E63 wagon will be AWD so there is that... and might still be available with 3rd row jump seat still...

The new S8 should suit your intended uses perfectly. Although I have not yet driven the New S8, I did have the opportunity to drive the New Bentley GT V8 with a detuned (500 BHP) version of the S8's 4 Liter twin turbo. After 10 laps at the Motorsports Ranch outside Dallas, I can confirm that this engine has more than enough power and torque to properly motivate the heavier Bentley. With an additional 20 BHP and 400 less pounds, the S8 should be a very entertaining sedan. Audi claims sub 4 seconds to 60. Good luck!

That's a very big IF. There is a campaign to get the RS4 Avant over here, which would be fantastic. An Audi exec showed up at a Cars and Coffee event with one a couple months ago, which has fueled some rumors...
I would desperately like to replace my X5 with a fun wagon.
