Love it. And, Chris Harris is awesome. Period. I'm glad he's back on after the post-season hiatus on DRIVE.

Thanks for posting!

Saw this one at Manhattan Motorcars; it was drop dead gorgeous. A little too $$ IMHO, could get 2 good cup cars for the price...

It would not be hard to build a very entertaining 964-based resto-mod for a whole lot less money...

Pretty sure that Colin at 9meister could do an awesome job for 1/3 of the price...

neat car but a little too much money. could get a gt2rs + a 993 turbo + cayenne for about the same, he keeps saying if you could only have 'one' car but for that money, you can buy many.

I like the way they have the manifold spun around so the intake noise is directed to the cabin, nice touch.

It is to much money unless you have enough, there will be enough people out there with 'enough' and the want of a fully sorted/low maint non-aero beetle with classic looks...

You guys are missing the point. This car isn't for someone with that thought process.

Not many people, even on RL, have the means to buy a $500k 964. This car is for someone that has or has had everything.

i disagree - fatcats don't buy a car like this.
they are unable to appreciate the subtleties for too long.
this is a car for the enthusiasts, but only guys like jerry et al can afford it.

all that R&D to make the carbon panels and stuff isn't cheap and volumes are low, so the cost is distributed over few units making the price high. just extremely desirable, but surely for a very specific type of buyer. Nonetheless, the Porsche world is richer for it!

Chris Harris built himself a classic 911 with updated performance a while back. Not the same as the Singer but in the same vein.

I think the likely buyer of a Singer is similar to the buyer of a Spyker or maybe a Pagani. It's a unique product hand made by some of the best people in the business. Look at what Porsche did with the Sport Classic. A few bodywork changes and a unique interior with some textiles and they found customers for each one.

Personally I can't imagine spending aeroplane money for a car. I wouldn't trust myself to not get bored of it, if that makes sense.

Highly doubt Jerry would consider. There are plenty of people with big money that enjoy cars like this. Look at amatuer race series around the world.

This quote from m3f is spot on.

Someting like the Singer 911 wouldn't interest him, and really isn't collectible - it's essentially just a modified 964. I wouldn't expect it to appreciate at all, though I wouldn't expect a ton of depreciation either since there aren't many. In this price range, I'd go for an original 2.7RS, myself.

The car is for wealthy r gruppe types not porsche collectors so to speak
Interesting that people are saying they are too much money - clearly singer is not getting rich on these cars...
Cosworth motors
$30k wiring harness
LMP lights
Cf body
Bespoke interiors
Etc
$300k is a bargain if their vision is your desire
A proper air cooled hot rod done to a very high level is $125 - 150k all day long - that is with an oem harness and interior etc, oh and not a full cf body

Ask Gamroth or any shop to build you a car that is finished to the level of a singer and no way it's less money

Ninemeister, Rothsport, etc... These shops can build a metal or fiberglass bodied car with a big motor and big brakes for less m
