Default PFC08 question

Do you guys remove all the additional backing plates that come on the PFC08's?

I noticed the new pads get delivered with a couple extra "clip on" backing plates for each pad. I normally remove all that crap, but since I'm new to these pads, just making sure.

yep, throw all the extra weight away.
also, ditch the pressure clips on the calipers.
and no need for the spacers where the hats bolt up to the rotors.
makes a lot of clicking and clacking noise when driving around slow - kinda cool. like a real racecar. lol

Cool, I actually think those stupid backing plates are causing a bit more pedal travel because they aren't perfectly flush on the back of the pad.

Those backing plates serve a thermal insulation purpose... while the effects may be limited at 500-600F it's possible that every bit helps...

Some pads like the super-thick RS-29s don't come with them, but I suspect that's just to fit extra pad material in the confines of the caliper. If PFC deems it worthwhile to ship 'em with backing plates I'd go ahead and install them.

Since I'm running the stock size, 34mm thick rotors, I was told I have to run the 17mm thick 08 pads. Has anybody tried stuffing the 19mm thick 08 pads with a 34mm thick rotor?

I know RS29's are 18mm when new, and they are a tight fit without any extra backing plates.
