Default How to DIY Rear camber adjustment ?

I recently bought a ´07 GT3. Last weekend was my first day at the track...what a blast!!

I was running stock alignment setup and the tires show this as a result. When I took the track tires out (semi-slick ContiForce contact). I noticed that they showed wear on the outside (screaming for more negative camber!)

I did some research and I feel ready to attack the job, at least for the front. I will go initialy only with shims, since I am looking at -2,5 in the front and -2 on the rear.

But, I need more info on how to adjust the rear camber on the GT3.

I have done alignments many, many times, on my track 911, so i understand the issues quite well. and, I own almost every DIY alignment tool on the market (i.e Smart Camber, Smart racing strings, camber gauges, etc).

What I need is a litle bit of guidance on the difference in procedure (i.e. adjustment point) on the GT3.

Thanks in advance for your help

PS: Please, all of those anti-DIY abstain from pushing me to take it to a shop. I have lost trust on Porsche dealers a long time ago when it comes to track cars, and learn that the best way to secure that it is done right, is to do it yourself (specially when you are out of the US). do

Don't you have the adjustable control arms in the back as well? Shims there too.

Thanks Francois
Could you give me a bit more info?
How do I know if I have the adjustable ones? And where do the shims go in, in that case?
Is there any other adjustment other than the shims? I would assume so since shims would not allow for fine adjustment, right?
Pictures or manual drawing would be greatly appreciated

If I get my car out of the trailer soon ill show you where to align from

With a set of smart strings, or the strings made by extec it isn't hard to align the car

You can use shims on the lower control arm

The front strut can be rotated and give you 2ish degrees...then shim from there

Lock the eccentric in back, use toe arms from tarrett or. Someone for toe

thanks Izzone. I would appreciate those pics

I checked on Tarrett's website, but I could not find a rear toe arm. i only found one for 997. Is this the same for the GT3?

Thanks again

- the 2007-2008 GT3 does NOT have 2pc adjustable REAR lower control arms - the 07GT3 RS does
- the GT3s have 1pc REAR lower control arms - in the front they are 2pc (i.e. you can use shims)

http://stuttgartperformance.rpmware..../i-398277.aspx

All thing consider, the above part from RSS is a good purchase (in my opinion for 07GT3s)
- you get sealed monoballs
- you get solid caster pucks
- it comes with all the shims you will need
- you can widen the rear track using shims for camber

Add some of these and you are good to go

The shims go between these two pieces (black arrow)

Front Control Arm top.
Rear Control Arm bottom.

You can see the shims that GT3North talked about.

BTW, Toe adjustment is critical on the GT3; toe-in in the back, slight toe-out to none in the front.

front adjust camber in the top mount if its not enuff you need shims

at the rear, becouse its not a RS you will need to adjust camber at the eccentric super easy

Same at toe at the rear

If you want to uppgrade go for a Porsche motorsport toe link the are way better then all aftermarkets
