Please don't tell me there is official word from Porsche that all GT3s will be double clutchers. That just would not make sense.
Every photo of test mule has paddles. there have been insiders quoted as such too. rumors? deceptions? maybe. could still have manual. but i think a major part of the time savings will come from the PDK vs. manual. In order to compete they have to do it.

(Unsubstantiated) rumors that a 7MT will be available eventually, perhaps as an option on the forthcoming RS version. RS premium plus a likely additional fee for the manual is a lot to swallow, though.

991 is a larger car too. 911 keeps getting bigger and bigger. Here is where the performance will come from:
1.) PDK. Faster around track.. shifting costs time.
2.) More torque. 9A1 will end up with more torque to make it pull harder.
3.) Handling will be less-911 like as wheel base is longer and motor pushed forward.

Also wider front track, PDCC, and PTV. No impediment to pushing the motor a bit more forward in the GTx models - no seats in the way.

i am buying cars with sole purpose to beat heck out of them, no matter what to buy, so, to me to buy any chassis when it is in the fan`s craziness stage is a waste of money. 2010 gt3 and rs cars should be at sweet spot to buy in 3 years or so, by then new 991 chassis wil be sorted out, most folks with extra money will move to that latest greatest one so older 997.2 will drop in price and when it will get to same price level where 996 gt3 car is now it will be a good time to buy it, rebuild/strip it and enjoy it for what it is.

all that speech of people buying those sports cars for 'collectors' purposes is just a plain craziness. it is not a faberge egg, it is just a car, is was made to be beaten up on track and driven around.

That's very sage thinking. Independent studies have shown that owners of blue and gold RS' are intelligent, mature, good looking, fiscally responsible, good for the environment, good with children, charitable, witty, and extremely attractive to the opposite sex.
