What's going on with the 997.2 RS market?

Wow Allans, reading these posts make me feel real good about my 2011 RS buy this summer. I use it exclusively on the street and it's an amazing machine. I would be able to sell it for 3k more than what I got it for (despite adding 2k street miles since my purchase) but it would be foolish to even think along those lines. When you think about the fact that there were less than 1000 3.8 RS's and then the fact that may be less than 50% of them were a purist spec (radio delete, no frills) it makes for a keeper. My dealer asked me if I had any plans to sell the car (he told me I could actually make some money off of it). I told him the only car I would sell it for is an even trade for a singer 911

I've sold all my RS too cheap.
I buy high, sell low in my spare time, I guess.
Than again most $140k RS were MSRP OF 160K and it does not take much to put 20-30k after, racket go fast parts in....

LOL .. I wish I could have benefitted. Too bad my mind was set on a grey black/red RS. Two reasons I picked this combo. 1) its my tribute to the Steve McQueen's slate grey 911 in the movie LeMans and 2) my wife said that the only way she would approve a RS is if it had red wheels.

I think right now there is a Porsche vacuum of things to buy. Most of us are not good at waiting. I bought a 991 to tide me over till the new Turbo comes out. Once the RSs are not the hottest NA Porsches the price will seek another level. Few modern cars are collectible. In the end we are car ladies of the evening.

Mine was 168 list. Time to sell if you are not planning on keeping it.

not many in the market and not many owners need to sell them.
great car and thus the resale is holding strong..... not typical depreciation one would assume.

Even the rarest model of water cooled cars will not reach collector status in our lifetimes unless we Rennlisters are in our 20's and will live to be octogenarians. So please let's not kid ourselves. We could'nt have afforded these cars in our 20's so let's enjoy them and take good care of them. I can't wait to wear off my MPSC's and put on some MPSS on mine to enjoy my RS even on days where there is some wetness on the ground. It's that time of the year where it rains every single day in Seattle.

True. Sold my perfect 3k miles Grey/black 3.8 RS for 126,900 a year ago to upgrade to 4.0. Now probably would get north of 140. Don't track and not a collector, just enthusiast. Have no desire to upgrade to 991 GT3. I am sure a lot of us feel the same. So don't count on a flood of 997.2 RS's or 4.0's that are clean hitting the market! I suspect prices will hold, as many non trackers like myself will stay with what we are in love with. No manual on the non-Mezger 991 RS's only seals the deal.

dont try to predict pricing curve. if you can do that well, then forget RS, just start pricing stocks and you will be able to own AAPL GOOG, the company not just their stocks.
the real question is do you like the car. if so, buy it.
trakcar may buy high sell low, but he's having a blast.
others buy low sell high and live miserably
