Ideal mods: 5-lug conversion, seats, roll bar/cage, suspension, etc.

If anyone knows of or has a clean car that they're looking to sell, please shoot me an email or PM, or post it here! Thanks in advance.

If you guys find more than 2 good 996 cup cars at $60K please let me know. Also, no more RA1s for you...you'd have to do R6s at minimum, right?

There's a few for sale at the moment at various prices, but the challenge is finding an "unmolested" one. IMO, I think GTC3 legal examples will be worth more in the long run compared to WC spec and those that converted to 3.8s and run elsewhere....but those WC 6 Cups do sound like fun.

There was one in S Florida for sale a few months ago - asking $90k, but it would have taken $25k worth of work and parts replacement to get it back to legal. (sequential shifter, suspension, etc, etc, etc)....basically someone trying to get the cost of their crazy mods back in the resale.

My 2000 Cup will be posted in a few days. All the little stuff that needs attending to in an older car has been done over the past two years. It's GTC3 legal and ready to go. Watch this space.

Pristine, low-hour '04-'05 996 Cups are moving into collector status. Guys that own them are asking '05-'07 997 Cup prices. Not worth it IMO but if that's what you want there's one at ZSA Motorsport in NJ. Owner just bought a '12 Cup so his '05 996 Cup is for sale. Think it has like 2hrs on PMNA rebuild and the rest of the car is perfect. Don't expect it to come cheap.

A bit OT, but...

I was at Petit Le Mans today, and I got a chance to go into the paddock post-race. Rather than watch the podium celebration, I wandered around, met Pat Long, looked over the wrecked cars. There was a GTC car (ie, a Cup Car if I'm not mistaken) that had had the rear bumper ripped off on the back, exposing the exhaust. The car appeared as if it had cats, and it definitely had a center section muffler. How come the cup/GTC isn't an unmuffled pipe?

The question of RS or Street Porsche vs a Cup car as a track tool is one I discuss quite often with current or new/soon to be GMG client's.

There is quite a bit of info to consider and the first thing I always talk about is safety.....then your budget for time, funds and long term goals with the car(s) you are considering.

In the end, if you see yourself in a Cup car at some point down the road, they make a great option for heavy track duty (and so much more capable than any street car) but do require more support to enable you to enjoy all that there is to do in a proper race car!

The ALMS GTC Cup runs the stock exhaust which has the 100 cell racing cats and stock mufflers.....they keep it spec vs WC and GA where it's open to modify.
