The rear is so ugly, hope that's not the production decision.

It's easy to see the tape trimmed cladding disguising the rear.

Maybe it's just me but the rear with those lights makes me think Aston Martin.

If they offer a manual, how many would actually go for it? You'd be hobbling yourself at the track.

Only if I want to "win" my DE!

Heel & Toe takes time to learn, and is truly an art form... Sad to see it go away.

Comparably, I'm an avid skier and have not been a fan of the shape ski era. After a decade of allowing shape skis at the FIS level, the standards bodies have recently had a change of heart and are going back to "old school" straight skis. Full circle...

I'd love the PDK for the streets of SF, but give me a manual on the track please...

My $0.02,

I'd take a manual every day of the week. Unless you shift like grandma, the difference is very small, which 99% of the time can be made up for with driver skill. I still have yet to see in person any really skilled drivers showing up at the track with paddles. I doubt that's going to change much. Which means that the better driver will still be coming out on top.

Porsche has handicapped the manual in the 991 by making it almost as heavy as the PDK, but a normal manual would save about 100 lbs, and if you went light on the clutch and flywheel, well over 100. And 100 lbs is more than enough to make up for the shifting if you use it right.

I'll take some extra required skill and less weight all day.

they are probably testing the clutches to see if they burn out on hill starts- when you drive a high hp car in traffic or under light speeds, heavy clutch loads coupled with low ground clearance, SF makes a really good "worst case scenario" test bed.

Now this I COMPLETELY disagree with. This is like rejecting Porsche Motronic and saying that Porsche should go back to CIS, aka Can't-Inject-****.

I'm an avid skier myself, and find that reverse camber/reverse sidecut has truly transformed powder skiing for me. The performance is higher AND it's more fun.

Is it winter yet??

This is a bad comparison IMO. The vast majority of alpine ski racers believe that the FIS is making a big mistake. They go back to old school lenght and shape as a way to reduce speed (I guess this is not what you hope for the new GT3) and injuries. A lot of people actually think that ski racers will go at the same speed on the new skis with less stability and injuries will actually be more frequent...

Ted Ligety: "I believe the FIS is recklessly endangering thousands of athletes participating in their sanctioned events by irresponsibly ignoring or dismissing large bodies of scientific evidence, the opinions of many experts and the gut instincts of the vast majority of coaches and athletes. I believe that the FIS is forcing the industry to spend ten’s of millions of dollars to develop and manufacture skis that may turn out to be too dangerous."

Sorry but this was right on topic IMO. Do you think that going back to "old school" technology as a way to reduce the speed of the new GT3 is a wise decision ? That is exactly what was suggested in the previous post and I simply responded to it.

BTW you should apply for a Rennlist moderator job !

LOL, its after noon on Friday = beer time.

I could use a second job but it would cut into my drinking time. They frown on drunk posting moderators. 911SLOW just holds his Sambuca well.
Me, not so much..
