The current rate for my renewal with USAA is $1100/yr up from $800/yr. I just don't understand the $300 hike for car that never gets driven.

I am using USAA, but agree with others that their rates are slowly creeping. I remember a time when their rates were not only low, but you'd actually get a check from them in December if they had a good year. Haven't seen one of those checks in a long time, the rates are going up, and they dropped both our homes in Florida because they are on the water. Needless to say, probably time to start shopping for new car insurance.

As far as track insurance goes, I use Responsive. I can hook anyone interested up with my rep. I don't care to fool around with the "I think my street insurance will cover it" theory. My car isn't terribly valuable at this point being an 07 with 30k miles, but nonetheless, if it gets totalled I'm out of the hobby.

I'm not sure how Saavyboy insures a 4.0 for $800 a year when it has a replacement value of probably $200k. Unless of course he is insuring a small fleet of cars and several homes as well. Maybe some sort of bulk discount. I have a clean driving record as well (knock on wood) and I think my GT3 policy is $1200 a year with a 1k deductible.

$720 / yr through State Farm....mine is probably cheaper to insure than the newer cars though.

I have a client I was talking to about his car recently who has a car insured through Hagerty. He shows the car primarily but also uses it for drag racing and even goes out with his club and does one or two DE's a year in the car. He swore up and down that his hagerty rep both knows that he drag races it and takes it on the track for DE and stated they would cover it in those situations if anything were to happen. I haven't followed up with them myself to see if that's really the case but it could be worth a phone call.

If it's not in writing, from the underwriter, he'll probably be in court if something goes sideways. Not worth the risk to me.....

Andrew, I agree. I couldn't tell you how long it has been since I received one of those year end refund checks. Instead the rates just keep creeping up and up. I use Lockton for my DE's.

I'm thinking it is time to start shopping around. My biggest concern is moving to another company and losing the amazing customer service USAA offers. I have been with them since I was 16 and could drive and not once have I been disappointed with the way they handle ANY contact, claim, etc.

Wow.... my age must be killing me.
USAA for my wife and I: $2800/yr
That's with bundle discount for our home (which they just raised 300 for no reason) and a '11 535 and my GT3. The Porsche is 2k of that. No accidents, no tickets for either of us. I got a quote from state farm, they were 1K/yr higher. Apparently being 26 is not allowed, even with a perfect driving record.

Not sure it's 26 as I got a huge rate drop with USAA when I hit 25. After speaking to USAA, they confirmed that ZIP CODE is huge in determining your rates.

Age a big part of it, your location isn't helping either. Depending on the company your next big drop in rates won't be until you're 29-30.

We live in a nice quiet suburb of Dallas - low crime, etc etc. City is on CNN's list of 25 best places to live 5 yrs in a row. I would think the zip code wouldn't be a problem. Interesting to know though. I might call them and see what is going on to make mine so high (4x!!) many of you.

+ 1 on zip code being a huge factor. I use a unit I rent out as my home address, since the rates are something like $80 a month cheaper....

Tampa is a hotbed for fraudulent accidents claims....

region...not specific neighborhood or zip. Yes there are still going to be higher and lower spots in TX based on zip but all of it's more expenive than say up my way in the midwest.

South Florida and eastern NY are the worst.

i disagree on region, i moved 8 miles from my past house, i would say that would be the same region, but it was a different zip, and my ins. dropped to 1/3 of what it was. 66% off to move 8 miles....go figure.
