Default Centerlock pin sticking-- significant, or just annoying?

Couldn't find this discussed upon searching.

Checked the torque on my centerlocks before going out on track this weekend and three of the four center pins were stuck and couldn't be pushed in to attach the centerlock nut on the torque wrench. A couple of gentle taps with a hammer and punch set them free and they popped back into place normally after checking the torque. I've experienced this a couple of times in the past but usually only on one of the four wheels; three out of four was unusual.

Anybody know if this means anything? Bug or "feature"? Ignore or take to dealer for inspection? Like I'm not already nervous enough about the hubs failing at the track.....

Its normal. Happens after a few sessions. I carry a rubber mallet and my custom $1.12 Home depot tool to pop them back in....

How does the tool keep the pin from sticking?

It doesn't. It is used to engage the spline after torquing wheels.

right it doesn't, but helps unlocking and making sure it's back in place.

Oh. Ok. I just use a pair of needle nose pliers expanded into the angles of the hex hole on the pin. A little rotational wiggle and the pin pops right out. Takes about a millisecond.

Happened to me for the first time on Saturday on one wheel. Knocked it in with said greek tools and everything worked fine.

The binding is probably not hugely significant, but it shouldn't be happening, right? Doesn't it imply movement of the CL nut? I once heard mention of thermal expansion....but not sure I buy that. Binding happens on a friend's car and it always happens and it is always on the same hub. Always. This doesn't strike me as a normal, randomly occuring event? Maybe nut on hub was overtorked, or hub damaged, and now CL not sitting right? I do not know. We drive as hard and as fast as each other...and mine don't bind

dirt and grit gets in there and makes it stick. Just put a screw driver in it and hit it with a hammer or a big wrench.

Yep that is exactly what happens and how to fin it.

I take my CL nuts apart after every 2-3 track days and clean them out and re-grease per Porsche workshop instructions. When I do this the rear CL nut splines do not stick for a couple DE's usually.
