Default 991 GT3 mule undisguised

http://collaverglas.net/2012/09/21/e...es/#more-14465

A lucky lensman caught some happy snaps of the GT3 with her skirts on.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=6yz22aSbdwg

Mixed blessings in the interesting aero around the front of the wheel arches, the kooky visuals, odd bat-wing-over-duck-tail rear deck lid, ... and of course the centerlocks, and the beefy calipers, etc.

Looks like wide body for GT3...

They're hiding something over the rump -- maybe an active spoiler like the Boxster? Noticeable extra bussel in the rear bumper cover. Maybe just cosmetics and packaging. No diffuser apparent. Not much side skirt of aero for downforce, just drag reduction and lift reduction. Ho hum.

I guess 450 horse to put it above the Carrera S with Power Kit. Handing should put it faster than the 3.8 RS, line ball with the 4.0 RS. All the usual comparisons of 991 vs 997 remain -- unless Porsche has done a lot to basically redo the steering completely, it's going to be another video-game software ride. I almost wish it had rear seats so I can replace the 991S with it and still do taxi work for the kids ... yes, that's about where I position the 991 GT3 ... sorry! : )

This morning I had an appearance. Petrocat parked at the gas station that is on the Carrefour de L'Almond valley in the C-17 towards Vic, there were three black Porsche perfectly aligned. At first glance it seemed three 997 GT3 ordinary - if a GT3 can be defined as "normal" course. Seeing registration German "LB" I had fallen into what was to be much more special than I thought at first: I was faced with three prototypes of the Porsche 911 (991) GT3 with hardly any camouflage!

Without thinking twice I parked me as I could get the iPhone fell into - for lack of a good SLR camera are photos on the iPhone, say - and I got to shoot photos like a fool. After all, it was the first time I saw the 911 (991) GT3 with almost no camouflage! A few meters down the side of a van were the engineers and test pilots doing a cafe. In a first moment I looked but did not move. I to mine. Click, click, click ...

Love the front spoiler, big lip and larger vent. All this means massive downforce on the front axle at high speeds!

Is the ducktail there to tie the look into the earlier 991s or because it works well with the active wing?
If the later, I'd imagine it's only a little while before we see these dt's clipped onto 6 and 7s ...
Sorta like massive gurney flaps!?

Notice the Center Lock locking mechanism is NOT popped all the way out in the correct flush position? Even Porsche cannot get it right ?!?!?!?

Would 18" still work for the track?
Wing looks small
Love the front look

Big questions:
Real weight
Engine
Gearbox

Front wheel arches look like MUCH wider rubber can be fit - thats a 245 - a 265/275 looks easy - front aero looks 100x better - car is going to be planted

Back to full street tires, that's the same crap PZero the Mustang and 991S are using. That's going to compromise lap times at the NRing.

Beautiful car.

I guess that rear wing elevates at speed (active aero), given all the extra downforce added to the front.

Beautiful stiffer calipers.

CL sucks again.

Sequential tranny, finally, time to get back to a GT3.

The only thing I can admire (so far) is the front aero and the cars' black color.

Crickets for engine / gearbox / electric steering and their ties with anything raced further than rushing to a delayed meeting @ cars 'n coffee on a sunny Sunday.

PS. No comments on the CLs. We know , they know that we know and the rest of the world doesn't give a dime.

PS2. Same pics were posted in the other "speculation thread".
