Default Strut Orientation - 996/997 GT3

I saw this in the SCCA rulebook. What are they talking about rotating the strut orientation to "racing"?

PORSCHE STRUT ORIENTATION
The strut on a Porsche 911 GT3 (996/997) may not be rotated from
its OE orientation since this configuration is authorized by the manufacturer
for “racing” (i.e., competition) purposes only and thus does
not meet the requirements of Section 13.

flipping them upside down moves the CG (center of gravity), and gives "better" MOI (moment of inertia)

I would have thought it is the rotation of the top strut mount to gain more camber...

This. Stock classes in SCCA do not allow you to rotate strut tops to gain more negative camber.

SCCA Solo Stock class: camber can only be gained with lower shims and the slotted adjustment up top the struts. The upper strut mounts cannot be rotated to gain additional negative camber (relocation of the 3 studs on the camber plate to the 3 holes that provide 1 degree additional negative camber).

Right. My understanding is you can only gain so much neg camber in stock position. Rotation an shims allow more.

Without shims or rotation you can get to about -2.2 in the front if I am not mistaken.
