Default GT2 Bucket seats harness options (for Carrera)

So, I pulled the trigger on a set of GT2 bucket seats and will be getting them later this week and install next week (997 Carrera 4S).

Now, question is, should I also do a 6-point harness, and if so, which one to get?

- Does Bucket seats provide enough support not to require harnesses?
- If not, what are options for a harness bar that do not require any drilling in the car or mods that are permanent?
- Between harnesses, Porsche or Schroth? (interestingly Porsche is cheaper!)

Thanks

brey krause harness bar http://www.bkauto.com/porsche/r1030.php if you're not going with a roll bar. Harnesses make the experience more enjoyable and safer. You should use a HANS with them though. I don't know the specific data but I have heard that using them w/o a head and neck device is not the way to go.

Might aswell bolt in a GMG bar and install Schroth GT3 specific harnesses.
RSS also make a bolt-in bar along with some other manufactures. Lots of bolt in options with no cutting or welding required.

GT2 seats will only hold you better latterally, but proper belts/harness will hold you from falling foward under hard braking. You will want the harnesses for track day. Nothing worse then being in tossed around a twisty track with only a 3 point seat belt. The lap tensioner only digs in harder with every hard corner.....

note that you will need the Brey Krause sub-belt bars in order to install 6p sub belts ...

alternatively you could use the Schroth 4pt profil belts with anti-sub as a compromise.

having never seen the two side by side I am not entirely clear what the differences are, (apart from the missing "schroth" labels on the Porsche)

Also note that the sub-belt bar mentioned on the web page is for the 996 Recaros and wont work with the GT2 buckets, you need the BK parts which you can find on their website.

correct! that *is* the BK GT2 sub bar kit, note that its 2 bars, one for each side (not interchangeable) ...

this is the recaro bar that will *not* work with the buckets: http://www.suncoastparts.com/product...ode=997S_Seats

The two main differences between the belts shown (besides the logo ) is that the Porsche model has wrap around mounting for the subs, while the Schroth version is shown with clip-ins which can be removed. Also, the buckle on the Porsche version has a button release just like my old Schroth belts, while the Schroth model has a twist lock release. FWIW, I currently have the twist lock version.

FWIW, my newer GT3 Schroth belts have wrap arounds for the subs and the twist lock release, as well as the lap belt mountings that fit the GT2/3 buckets.
Thanks Mike, so is yours Schroth belt this one (GT3 Belts at end of the page)?

Yeah, those are the ones Alex.

They are shown with clip in fittings for the subs so I thought at first they might be a different model than I have. But I just went out to the garage and the clips were in the box so obviously I removed them so I could wrap the subs around the sub-belt mounting bar. I'd just forgotten I did that.....
