Looks great Jack. Congrats. Enjoy it as much as you can. You'll be sure to be smiling as you listen to that sweet Mezger engine ( above 4-5 K RPM)

Please let me know when you go up there.. Love to join you in the summer heat. Not too many socal gt guys I see at the track

Thanks! The KI Studios stripe was a recent addition by the previous owner and I wasn't sure that I was going to leave it in place as my usual preference on a GT3 is the clean, unadorned look. But when I saw it in person I liked it - a lot. It complements the red belts and calipers. The GT3 logo on the engine lid is red as well.

One more gratuitous pic...

I would suggest you sign up for a DE, it will allow you to explore the WOT and sound of the GT3....simply intoxicating !!

Yes, I know. However,I fear the "slippery slope" ($$$) of what simple DE's can lead to. Tires, wheels, suspension, trailer, towing truck...been there before.

Back in the '80's I had a cheater (2180cc) Formula Vee that I mainly used for auto-X but ran it at RA a few of times in the Walter Mitty. I LOVE that track and it would be a lot of fun in a really fast car. Doing a DE with the GT3 is very tempting. I have a good helmet but it's probably out of date.

Maybe, just maybe...

Don't fear the slope. I've seen plenty of people doing a few DE's a year without changing much anything on their car. Especially easy to do with a 7GT3.

And if the slope started to beckon, you'd get on it only because you liked it so much that you preferred to spend your $$$'s there than somewhere else. So it's a win/win no matter what happens.

Just drive there, sign up for beginner group and drive it 8/10th just enjoying the car and the sounds.

Slippery slope, well if you just stick to street able good tires the worst you need is a set of wheels and track pads and only if you go more than a few weekends a year.

But as an ex-racer, I know that I'll be tempted to go...FLATOUT!

Jack,

Congrats on your latest purchase, drive it as often as possible and enjoy it in good health!

I used to live north of Atlanta, up by Lake Lanier and remember some great driving roads.

Congrats, great looking GT3 and based on your background, you should love this car. But, enough with the "old man", I passed your age years ago and just switched tracking my 360 Spider to a GT3 last year. As much as I loved the balance and sound of my spider, the performance of the GT3 at the track is extraordinary; however, your concerns are exactly on point. I drive it occasionally on the street, but have enhanced its performance slightly for the track, with R888's, floating rotors up front, toe in and camber adjustments and roll bar, seats and harnesses. Nevertheless, was very pleasantly surprised at how comfortable the ride up and back to Watkins Glen (with my wife) was this weekend - except coming home and getting stuck in an accident related traffic tie-up for an hour. This is not the car to drive in that type of situation.

Enjoy.

Rob
