It still suck because the seal on the slide eventually breaks

I'm currently using a piece of wood, cut to length with a towel on the seat edge.....seat release to release pressure
Just use the Irwin heavy duty model with 600 lbs clamping force- no issues, I haven't had one fail yet, plus the clamp pads are extra big and help to spread the force on the pedal and the seat, I don't use anything else.

I also move the seat back to release the pressure +1
Nice idea, I'll order one

Thank you for all the interest guys. Pics attached below. Let me know if you are interested in one.

The "Braker Bar" is based on a cargo bar design and extends from 20-30" via a ratchet mechanism while the rubber pads on the end grip both the brake pedal and the inside seat rail for a tight fit that makes changing CL wheels a one man job and just a little bit easier

Sorry for all the questions, I want one regardless.

Is it long enough to reach the seat all the way back?
Would be nice to not have to mess with the seat.

Does it slide out and lock down or do you have to ratched it all the way out and back in?

I'm all for a better mouse trap. A sawn off cargo bar is a good idea, too. I still have to advocate the Irwin clamp -- it's clean and tidy and provides ample force with a nice, big handle. It doesn't requiring moving the seat and reaches to the seat frame (quite sturdy enough for this job) and can be aligned with the seat slider bracket for those not wanting anything to risk damage to the seat upholstery.)

Here's the "original" centerlock thread that compares the Lisle tool (which I've used for years to do alignments, and requires little force to hold the brakes and steering wheel, but when "overloaded" for centerlock wheel swaps, I could see it failing ... and of course the steering wheel is not designed for that work, so any solution should work off the seat frame or slider bracket) and the Irwin clamp.

https://rennlist.com/forums/997-gt2-...ng-wheels.html

Also, I use the engine running and the brake booster, not brute force on the pedal. Of course, be careful about running the engine with the car off the ground in any way, etc. The booster will generally allow for two applications of the brakes before it loses its assistance boost with the engine off. The Irwin clamp provides ample assistance to depress the brake pedal enough to hold the fronts (and the rears can be held with the parking brake, which should be applied for this job just because the car is off the ground at least for one corner at a time) but I don't remember chapter and verse in the factory instructions about torque/release/torque -- maybe they say to have the brake pads hold the rotors instead of the parking shoes. Anything's possible.

Yep, another advocate of the Irwin clamp here, works a treat, got one that was a bit long on a deal and sawed it down a little.

It does Peter. I'll make yours 6" longer since you know you will always use it with the seat all the way back to ensure it is good and sturdy.

Thanks Brian,
Just got mine in, works great

Put in place, 3 pulls on the little ratched and car is braked!
With the seat all the way back, my extra long bar barely fits between the seat and the pedal making it super easy and simple.

If Peter says it works...good enough for me...I'd like to get one too. My seat is also all the way back.

Glad you liked it Peter. Thank you.

Mike - first batch has been sold, but I'll have another ready by the end of the week. I'll make yours extra long to match the one I made for Peter.

I would like one as well--whichever length you recommend. I have a 997.2 gt3 with carbon GT2 sport seats (folding type).

Thank you.
