Twin Falls driver Bob Shillington set a new Sun Valley Road Rally speed record on Saturday, pushing his black 2008 Porsche GT2 to 198.4 mph on a 3.2-mile stretch of state Highway 75 north of Ketchum.
Shillington, driving the same Porsche, was also last year's winner with a top speed and another course record of 197 mph.
Shillington's winning run was one of 60 runs made by drivers in mostly recent-model Porsches, Ford GTs, Mustangs, Ferraris and other high-speed vehicles in the fourth annual road rally, the major funding source for the Blaine County Community Drug Coalition.

Never enough.... In 2013 Shillington ran 209 & 211 in a GMG prepped GT2RS.
Four Bugatti Veyrons showed up and 2 of them ran at speeds up to 235.
For the hell of it, I did it last year and brought up my newly acquired .1 RS and ran a paltry, by comparison 175 & 178. I can post up a video when I return home if anyone wants to see.

Reminds me of watching that Hennessey Venom GT story on TV, doing those high speed passes. Watching the Odometer just keep on going up past 120-130-140-150-160 like in seven seconds was just plain insane and to have 3.2 miles to do it. While the Bugatti had their High Speed loop ring... Sorry for going off topic.
To hit 200mph what is the issue, Aerodynamics perhaps? Was the car modified at all on the exterior between last year and this year? Driving that fast on two lanes takes big fricken Juevos Rancheros that's for DAMN sure.
Those Bugatti's have Limiters on them too, but I don't think 235mph is their limit - to set the Record Hennessey broke Bugatti had to turn off the Limiter to achieve 268MPH which Guinness said was ok which is bullcrap. If it don't come out of the factory like that then it's a straight up modification.
And also to clarify, the Thrust SSC wasn't the first vehicle on the ground to break the sound barrier. Some dude did it in the 70's with some military rocket in his car - but since his car only had THREE (3) Wheels the FIA/Guinness won't recognize it. Again what kind of crap is that? It doesn't take some Governing Body to say "oh for sure dude, you need four wheel or we won't count it"! To hell with the both of them, though I tend not to be as negative as this; it's just when others get involved and said "that didn't count because your vehicle didn't have enough wheels is just plain absurd and almost elitist especially when the happy asses at the FIA get involved. They're the type of people who enjoy smelling their own farts!

Hey Guys
This is a fantastic run considering Sun Valley is 5000' above sea level.

Horsepower mainly, but as SmokinGTS said elevation is a factor given the run takes place about 14 miles north of SV/Ketchum at an elevation of about 6500'. Shillington's white WC-GT2RS can be seen at 3.02 in the video. No aero changes, but GMG did do substantial work on it, including new suspension and CF wheels. There was a post a while back from GMG that detailed all the upgrades. If I find it I'll repost.
