After reading more updates/blogs re: 991 GT3, more and more articles are mentioning PDK only transmission. Personally, if the 991 GT3 was offered only with PDK and no option for a manual, I'm quite sure I would not be interested in buying one. I would stick with the 996/997 GT3s in manual only form.
I can't believe that Porsche would go from manual only to PDK only for GT3s. They must know they will alienate much of their existing GT3 ownership base.
What do you guys think?

Porsche will offer both.... Stick for weekend drivers and PDK for daily drivers and also those looking to lower their lap times.
How they introduce it will be the interesting in the whole marketing scheme.
Perhaps the PDK wont be released until the introduction of the 2014 RS to give the illusion that it is hyper fast shifting action on the track like that of the Cup car...
Trouble is, 2015 rolls around and Porsche supposedly gives us the 960 which is said to be an all new more mid engine 911 animal with even better track mannors......

This myth keeps getting repeated. Feel aside, the steering is not drive by wire. It's a fairly standard R&P mechanical linkage with electric assist. The audio on this link didn't work for me but the animation clearly shows the config of the steering....

I'm on the fence, but I'm not an early adopter anyway. I understand the benefit of PDK in street and track situations, but I'm having plenty of fun with my 997 and will continue to do so until throngs of 991 GT3 PDK owners and a thrilling test drive convince me otherwise.
I'm also wondering if there will be a manual version of the PDK box as was done with the 991.

I have had the opportunity to drive a Cayman PDK, a 997S PDK, a 991S, a Panamera 4S and a Panamera GTS all with PDK. thank you but I will stick with the old fashion method of changing my gears. But I have been shifting myself now for over 50 of my 66 years, so maybe the old saying "you can't teach old dogs new tricks" is true.

Thats how I see it. I dont care if it shaves 1-2 seconds off at the track, I want the involvement. Its more satisfying to become a better driver and reduce my lap times rather than for the car to be doing the work for me.

The problem with PDK is the user interface. It's total crap. If they delete the clunky shift selector and add column mounted shift paddles it will change everything.
