It all depends..
I did my first oil change on the (new to me) 997.1 GT3 and used M1 5W40 TDT because of its good High Temp / High Shear characteristics (more so than the M1 0W40). KInd of relevant with these engines in the Texas heat.
I just put two track weekends on the car, and am planning to take an oil sample and have it analyzed by Blackstone, in order to determine how much punishment it has been taking.
I will look for wear metals and to what extent the oil is staying "in grade" viscosity-wise.
Will report back.

It all depends upon your driving style and ambient temps. If you are less aggressive and don't redline every shift, then 6, 7, 8 track days could be just fine.
Hot days +aggressive driver- 4 days.

5-6 track days for me, so about 1500-1750 miles or so. Also important to change brake fluid regularly. I do 3 times a season so about once every seven track days.

it depends of how hot your car gets on the track, if you run non-racing oil close or above 275deg - replace it after each such event. use generic 5w50 or 15w50 M1 or special racing 0w50 M1 oil if you`ll be able to find it anywhere cheap. difference on hot oil max pressure between generic 0w40 and 5w50 is 34psi vs 45psi, on my car according to data logger.
if oil stays in the reasonable 220-250deg range then it will last as long as people say - 3-5 events. if it gets above 275 and you run it for while like this - drain it after such event and just look at how it looks like.

For gear oil I say to treat every full track day as 2500 mi of service and to change your gear oil every 15k mi. So never go more than 6 track days between gear oil changes.
I personally change my engine oil every 2-3 track days. Even then, I recently dealt with this:

Van,
That's the #3 rod bearing from my 1999 2.5RS Impreza. Delivered with 165bhp. I built it up to 225bhp. Had 125k on the bottom end when it let go at the track, 35k of that at 60hp over stock. I think it got a pretty good life.
Senna,
I don't make oil recommendations. There are a lot of good oils. I hold that the oil that you change frequently is the best oil...

I'm always willing to pay to play. You won't find me crying when I blow something up. I've probably popped enough motors and gearboxes in the last 10 years to have bought myself a nice low mileage 996 Carrera with my repair costs. I just say to my clients what my dad used to say to me, "Do as I say, not as I do".
