Looking for data to compare a 2007 and a 2009 GT3

3.8 RS appreciated in the last 8 months (the 4.0RS might have helped).
Average sale prices:
997.1 GT3 $75k
997.1 GT3 RS $95k
997.2 GT3 $95k
997.2 GT3 RS 3.8 $125k
997.2 GT3 RS 4.0 $210k
Prices go up or down from average depending on mileage and conditions. Delta between .1 and .2 just $20k, delta between .2 and 2.RS $30k.
A few months ago the 3.8RS was the best value (most car for the money), some were moving below $115k. Currently, the best value is the .2 GT3.
The biggest variation is in the 4.0RS that can go in between $185k and $235k depending on the seller.
Who wants a bone stock 42,000 miles 2007 Cayman S with a year left on warranty?

The interesting thing I've noted in the last 30 days is the high priced 4.0's on the market are still on the market. The 3.8's are selling and new inventory is appearing. I haven't taken time to figure out whether the trend is higher, give or take the transition from winter doldrums to spring and summer activity. It seems to be a stronger market for the seller all round. I think the buyers are tired of the primary market where there's literally no competition for the GT3 and RS.

There will ALWAYS be something that's an upgrade to what you have which is why I don't see myself "upgrading" anytime soon. If I did, then I'd say, it's only "X" more to get into the next step up. Time to enjoy what so few have the privilege to drive.......

$25k difference between 2007-08 997.1 GT3 and 2010-2011 997.2 GT3.
for $25k you get:
3.8L engine
no sunroof
better aero
better shock valving
crappy center lock wheels
more remaining warranty

To elaborate just a bit more, one piece of info I would like to add is MUCH BETTER AERO. Down force is vastly increased from .1 to .2. As far as gearing, I was under the impression they are the same. Gearing is only different b/w a regular GT3 and a RS.

I know what I'm going to say next is going to get all you purist in a huge tither. I hate to admit it but I LOVE my sunroof.
Ok, there, I said it and I don't care how much DE prize money it costs me. On the occasional beautiful day I like to have it open along with all the windows and soak in the sun and all the sounds the GT3 has to offer. With the addition of my Sparko seat it's the only 'luxury' I have left.
Be gentle.........

I have seen multiple .2 RS sell locally in the 11Xs over the last few months. I haven't even seen a used one advertised over $130K locally for a long time.
.2 also has stiffer springs due to the increased downforce, which is the primary reason why the dampening is different. It always has a different sway bar setup due to the different balance form the suspension revisions. As a .2 owner, my recommendation is if you are not specifically looking for one with PDEM; buy a .1.

Locally here in Texas this seems to be the break down of clean, low mileage cars.
997.1 GT3 -$75-80K
997.1 GT3 RS -$85-98K
997.2 GT3 -$99-106K
997.2 GT3 RS -$130K+
I have been hounding the internet and local dealers for months now and these are pretty consistent number across the board regardless of private sellers or at dealerships. Best buy is definitely the 7.1 GT3 but the best car for the money is the 7.2 GT3 especially if you can snag one around the $98-100K range.
Best of luck in your search, there are quite a few great cars out there to be had, happy hunting.
