Carbotech Pads?
I recently acquired Sin911's 07 gt3 w/ stoptech str bbk. On my previous track car (725whp evo x), I ran carbotech brake pads and they worked fantastic. I wouldn't use anything else after experiencing several different brands, and much of the evo community also swears by them for track use. The weight of the car is similar to the gt3, and I was at much higher speeds. However, I've noticed most of the track guys are running pagid pads, and in searching around nobody seems to use/like the carbotechs. Is there a particular reason, or is it because they are newer to the porsche community?
The part I like about them the most is that you can swap between the XP12/16 track pads and their 1521 street pads without having to rebed the rotors.
If there's solid reasons people use other pads, I have no problem buying what works, I'm just curious why nobody uses the carbotech stuff.
TIA

Anyone else? Based on what I'm finding, I think I'm going to try a set of carbotech and swap to pfc08s and compare.
What do you PFC guys swap to on the street? Or just deal with the noise?

I run the Hawk DTC-60s on my turbo. I can use these on the street and track in most situations and have had zero issues. If I need to step it up then I'd go PFC08s. The Pagids are nice but you pay for that nice-ness!
Make sure you also step up your brake fluid as well. I use ProSpeed 683 but you also have a few other great fluids out there.

I destroyed the XP20 in one hour and the XP12 in 2 days. Carbotech are better than Hawk, but nowhere near the performance on better pads as PFC, Endless, Cobalt and Pagid.

I have the Stoptech STR brake kit on my 2010 GT3.....my contact at Stoptech recommended PFC01 pads up front and PFC97 pads in the rear for a full on track set up. I ran this set up for over a year with some 30 track events and it was truly stunning. This set up is harder on rotors, and ok on the street, but the rotors look hellish after street driving, no biggie though.
I have since moved to Endless ME20 at all corners for a combo of street and track, it is slightly less aggressive (reduced initial bite), but provides a very confident pedal (I just had 3 days at the full 4.5 mile track Miller Motorsport Park), and they work emtremely well on the street too.
Cheers!
