Default Titanium brake pad heatshields?

Has anyone used these with any success? Would it be useful or is it pretty much a gimmick? I've got the 6 pots with the yellow zircon piston inserts but anything that would help shield the caliper from heat would be good at the track....

My simple brain says its a gimmick, Maybe the heat transfer coefficient of ti vs steel is a bit different but not enough to make a difference

Once cup cars run them I'll give them a try

Don't some cup cars run Ti pistons or pucks?

I have a set from my C2S, never used them as the new Pagid pads were too thick to fit them in at the same time. Then I didn't bother to use them.

Right, we would have to run 17mm pads instead of 19mm

Yeah, that's sort of what I'm thinking. You always see them recommended by a vendor that sell them but I've yet to see anyone use them at the track.

I run PFC 0991s and they only come in 17mm so they would fit in my case but don't know if its worth the trouble. Seems like it it was such a great idea than more people would be using them...

I used to use them on the E46 M3 (still do actually), they help, but don't expect anything earth shattering. Cooling rear brakes is a much bigger issue on the M3...it helps prevent brake fluid boiling once your pads start to get worn.

IMO, the GT3 doesn't need them, just use the stock brake ducts front and rear.
