and like GuyR said- I feel like too many of these "track" tires are too tall, too heavy, too treaded.
Where those MPSC tires N-Spec or standard MPSC? Sizes?....thanks!

Looks like I will never try the new R's. Local dealer wants FIVE THOUSAND dollars for the set.

They wanted $3500 for the normal ones.

Total rip-off. Will totally order from abroad.

Wow. I was just quoted $1800 ish for a set shipped to me. It would be cheaper for you to order them in the US and ship.

So, are those trofeo-R tires way better than proven nitto NT01? what is all the noise about?

I will have a report after this weekend

Perhaps someone else can contrast regular Trofeo vs Nitto 01 as I have never run 01's. I can render an opinion vs R6/MPSC/Corsa System/Trofeo.

Trofeo's are being sort of blow out at $1800...they were $2k...the new R Torfeo should be back up to the $2100ish mark is my thoughts

My initial assessment of the regular Trofeo vs. NT01 is that the Trofeos are definitely stickier and you can definitely feel the difference under braking, less likely to get into ABS. At Thunderhill, they equaled my best lap time with the NT01s on the very first day that I tried them. The NT01s are great because you can just hammer them with no ill affect and they are not affected by large slip angles, very durable. If you do that with the Trofeos, you will kill them in very short order. If I can get five track days out of the Trofeos, I will likely stay with them, especially if the Trofeo R turns out to be more durable.

Thats what I will probably do - pick up a couple of sets towards the end of summer (our track season is in the winter) and then thumb my nose at the local Pirelli dealer.

I haven't used the NT01s. I run 19s so the original Trofeos kicked the asses of the R888 and MPSC hands down.

The newer Trofeo R is suppose to last longer so that was the only downfall of the original Trofeo.

+1 although my shipping to the west coast bumps it up a bit. These are for the new R's in GT3 standard sizes...

The G12/Trofeo R wheel/tire setup is officially up for grabs.

$9200 takes it. One of a kind.

Should one assume the 4.0 is gone..?

I suspect you've gone Cup.

There was a very clean 2012 Cup for sale (in the Cup forum) a few days ago...

Mike- I was testing the market and lots of interest but no real buyers, so I am in the terrible position of driving and enjoying it

If I go something 100% track I would really want to look at a Boss 302R. Running/repair costs at 1/4 or less that of a Cup and frankly I am burned out on paying Porsche tax Engine/tranny rebuild/parts costs are utterly ridiculous.

I cannot fault your logic. The 4.0 is a "once in a lifetime" car, so I'm glad to hear you're keeping it.

The 302R does represent a tremendous value for a dedicated track car, I agree.
