This is on a 2007 GT3. My TPMS no longer reads, I have reset it and it tries to read and then fails to do so, so displays inactive. I have 30k miles on the car and just recently did it stop working. Do I have to buy 4 new TPMS sensors to fix the problem? I know they are about $110 each from suncoast.

Most likely flat batteries and I believe they are sealed units, so this will be the likely fix...

They are not mileage dependent, they are age dependent as the battery in the TPMS units is sealed, never turns off, and not replaceable. Once they die, they are done. I'd wait until you get a new set of tires or you will not only be paying about $450 for a set of TPMS units, you will also be paying for dismount, remount, and balance of your current tires.

Ditto. A technician at the dealer can unplug the module and tell the computer to stop looking for the system.

Get your P-dealer to hook the car up to PWIS and display life remaining in each TPMS battery. Replace all four if more than one is lower than 20%

TPMS is very useful for street driving. I use it to monitor the pressures on the rear tires when towing with the Cayenne, and with the Cayman I use it as well.

I had a loose valve in the Fiat during a track day at Sebring, and an early warning saved me from ruining the car at a turn with a completely flat tire, or at least ruin a wheel.

The only thing better than TPMS, is TPMS + Run-flat tires. The new ZR1 and Z06 Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires are both fast and run flat. These are the tires that helped GM drop the Nurburgring times down to 7:19 and 7:22 much faster than any type of GT3 in Porsche's home racetrack.

The sensors are affordable, and good for 4 years, cheap insurance.

If you have a true flat tire the car turns SC and TC back on!

On the steet it is nice, but in the BBS they will not work very long, I think they can't take the heat of tracking.
I never get all 4 to work the entire session, sometimes I get 2 to work but usually I get the TPM system failure after the low pressure warning.

THIS.

I do the same. Use it to monitor pressure. There is not the fidelity of a hend-held gauge, but you can see PSI rise (and fall).

Sure, to some it seems gimmicky, but like Rad says, it is cheap insurance.

Does anyone know if the new sensores when shipped dormant from the factory, consume energy and reduce battery life before they are activated? what is the shelf life?

Well mine do work for about a day at Sebring..
I wish Porsche would do development in DE at Sebring, you know where the cars are really tested.

Wimpy 24 hours and replace everything just don't cut it...
