GoPro Wireless Remote

looks like the app is "coming soon" ... could be problematic if you have to enable your smartphone as a wireless hotspot (tethering) ... at least with my carrier (T-Mobile) they charge $15 p.m for this feature ...

This thing will eliminate the need for an LCD back for our use... mount one on the front towhook, one on the rear wing or around the license plate area, another one suction-cupped to the side window. Control all three with a smartphone in-car and you'll be filming like Chris Harris' crew : )

Turns out the WiFi backpack has it's own internal battery similar to the battery backpack.

For those of you using GoPro's and want to remotely control them - GoPro is finally shipping the WiFi BacPac & Remote. http://gopro.com/hd-hero-accessories...-remote-combo/
I'm not affiliated with GoPro. Just ordered one and I'll report back on how it works.

For remote control, the viewfinder through gPhone or iPhone is great.
I see they also have a livestream, which would be a fun toy for people in the paddock to be able to see the race from in-car. Maybe keep the family amused while you're driving and they're waiting, etc.
I think GoPro wins for marketing and they've done some great endorsement work with professionals, but otherwise, I'd suggest Contour.

Contour makes some nice stuff as well. Another good one to check out is the ReplayXD http://replayxd.com/ Great unit and nice HD video quality like the Contour, but crap battery life...

just got my GoPro WiFi Combo pack ... just fyi you need to update the firmware on your camera, wifi bacpac and the remote control ... http://www.gopro.com/update
basically you download the latest version of their studio app then connect the camera or the wifi bacpac to the computer, it will detect the devices and download the latest updates ...
now I have to take it to the track to play with it!
