Default Faster then GT2 RS

Not even close, and four times the price.

Not sure what "under 7:22" really translates into but even 7:22 is pretty damn quick. For me, even if I had the dough, I don't think I'd being falling over myself to get one but it is a unique and innovative piece of Porsche engineering.

Why is it so bloody expensive? I mean, really?

Granted, I have not dissected the spec's etc, but really? $750k plus?

Beautiful car in any event!

Apparently buyers have claimed it is not 'price exclusive enough'. I believe I read this in EVO. That means, buyers don't think it's expensive enough...and they want lower production volumes for higher prices.

i would rather the car with a spyder v8 and no gizmos that will deem the car a betamax in 5 years....

oh yeah, they are going to build a porsche 961. I almost forgot. It will be like the 918 but without all the gizmo crap....

Hurray for the 961 then

Seriously, a mid engined, carbon+plastic lightweight supercar from Porsche? The last time they did that we wound up with the CGT. A flawed car in many sense, but forever a show stopper and it wasn't until the GT2RS that we really saw a car that could outrun it.

I mean, seriously Porsche, just stick the CGT engine into the 918, no gizmos, tune her up a little so that it produces 50 or so more hp and be done with it

Curious about the Ring times and why so slow. I checked the specs, and its weight was listed as <1700 Kg , or less than 3700 pounds!!

This thing it faaaat, or is this their way of saying that our GT3s weigh less than 1700 kg as well.

Doesn't make sense to cost that much, and be so slow - it will have to be faster (and lighter).

That wouldn't make the green hippies of the world very happy. All electric mode of the 918 does.

I figured that now as a subsidiary of VW Porsche shouldn't have to worry much about emissions standards. Is that not the case?

It's going to be pretty fat, those electric motors/flywheel and todays safety standards will demand it.

The GT3 R Hybrid is down to ~ 200 lbs heavier from well over 300 lbs heavier than the regular cup R. This technology is HEAVY!!!!!! So expect the hybrid 918 to be really heavy.

Forecast: modern day 959.
Heavy yes, expensive yes, test bed for technology...yes.
I think it's technology will filter down to other Porsches. & it looks awesome!

way too heavy- bottom line.

there is no reason to buy a 750k car...if you're into it, it has to be because of the EPA mpg estimate factoring in somehow- otherwise you're better off with a CGT (300-350k?), a TT S convertible with PDK (150k) and a econobox (30k) or a fisker karma (90k) which all will do better at their respective jobs than the 918.

Then its a pointless car. Sorry but for $800K its gotta have dominating performance, something that puts it heads and shoulders above the rest and the subject of a million supercar debates for a decade.

Like the CGT

Wonder how long before we get some sort of battery system in our GT3's.

I though it unthinkable that they'd put a battery in a supercar.

In a Cayenne I understand
In a Panemera I understand
In every VW 4 door salon and hatchback I understand

i think they said "under 7:22" because the car has dipped into the teens but they are not saying anything yet until they have it dialed in perfect for the ulitmate number...
