GT3 vs 911 Turbo

I could work with that! Is Mancation stopping at Summit Point this summer?
Love the GT2. I only wish it was a few hundred pounds lighter for the track. It's reasonable to drive on the street but not plush by any means. The clutch pedal alone will give you a workout in city traffic.

How much does it weigh?
Are you bringing it to the track any time soon? There are worse things then flying to a racetrack, catch rides do a couple of laps and get drunk ;-)

Find a clean 996 GT3 Cup, and keep your 3.8RS. The Cup will make the 3.8RS feel slow, and honestly, the 3.8RS is not the best choice for street use, so get rid off 3.8RS and get a nice DD you can track occasionally: 997 GT2.
I almost bought a brand new 997 GT2 over the Scuderia, at the end it was a $$$ decision, but I still want a 997 GT2 (as a 2nd or 3rd car). The GT2 is a vastly better and fun street car, and well driven, not even the 4.0RS can keep up.

I don't?
I'm open to a GT2, but I want to drive one first.
Orbit has one sitting there, but I don't know anything about them.
Most are out of warranty and so I would see it as an alternative to a 3.8 not a 4.0.

Awesome thread! I'm in a similar boat now. Trying to decide between 997.2GT3 w7 months of warranty and a 997.2tt pdk with 12 months of warranty. The turbo is only $5k more and both have the same mileage.
I tend to flip cars every 2-3 years, driving styles aside, which is best bang for the buck. I'll track 3-4 times/year and have two little ones who could benefit from rear seats... This will be a weekend/fun car.
Thoughts? I know, I should get both...

well, your kids will not fit in the GT3, but the GT3 offers more thril..and I bet you - it will loose probably a lot less - if you want to sell it again in three years.
If you have 2-3 other cars: GT3 - if you only have 1 other car: probabably forced to turbo.

On the topic of cheap turbos...
I helped my friend pick up a relatively clean 128k mile 02 996 turbo for $24k. SF bay area private party sale. Only things it needed were tires and rear wing hydraulic rams.
Clean car, drives nice, shifts well.

I'm a fan of the 996 TT. I have owned two of them. It is a sweet street car. I have an 01 with 57k miles which I picked up for $39k a few months ago. Best bang for the buck in a Porsche you can get nowadays IMO.

GT3 vs Turbo
I owned two Vipers, a 1997 GTS and a 2000 GTS
Moved on to a 2004 996 TT Cab, tuned to 500 hp
Then I moved on to a 2008 997.1 GT3.
Now I am in the market for a 997.2 RS
You can see what my opinion is...

I was there. For me GT3 is the one I wanted most, however I'd recommend a tt for a dd unless you're passionate to the unique feel of the GT3...

Are you kidding? 24k is that a typo. This is the lowest price I've seen for a 996tt. Where did you get that deal? Tiptronic?
