gt3 .1 vs .2?
Is there a difference in length and width between the 7.1 and 7.2? I understand the .2 has slightly different bumpers, wing and wheels and besides the 3.8l rather than the 3.6 is there really anything else different? I'm buying a 997 gt3. I've driven the 7.1 and I want to know if the 7.2 feels any different different.

I've owned a 7.1 RS and 7.2 non-RS. I loved how my 7.2 drove on the track. Felt like it was a more balanced car, mid-range usable torque was better, and it felt tighter as a package.
Didn't see too much difference between driving my 7.1 RS and a friend's 7.1 non-RS. That said, GT3s are all great driving experiences.

This is one of the questions that you have to ask yourself what your budget is.
Everybody will tell you X is better than Y but it doesn't take research to understand that........
6.2<7.1<7.1RS<7.2<7.2RS<7.2RS4.0
So......whatever your budget is search in that range. They are ALL phenomenal cars to drive and own. It's something I wish everybody could experience. They are that amazing.

the only difference you feel in chassis (besides obvious torque and gearing) is the kick in the wallet between the two.
997.1 and 997.2 share the same pick up points for suspension. They are the same tub/chassis/design/length/width etc.. ALL interchangable with each other.
997.2 changed the shock/spring settings and thats about it chassis wise.
997.1 was already a great street suspension especially when compared to 996GT3.
You only choose a 997.2 if you can afford the 3.8L difference over the 997.1 3.6L.
It is not a suspension or chassis decision.

It felt to me with better fron end grip as I drove both back to back on the street before getting my .2
Engine diff is noticeable. Maybe the .1 could be more fun on the street as you can rev it more often and not go so fast?
To me the .2 was the better option for a car that I plan to keep for quite some time.
Either way you won't go wrong

you forgot one more option - 6.2 or 7.1 with an semi-dead engine that goes right away into shark 3.9 rebuild. it may probably cost less than a new 7.2 and definitely much less then rs4.0.

suspension ride heights and settings were varied....
A 997.1 at euro ride height and proper alignement can feel very stable compared to a 997.2 at dealer height and nominal alignment and vise versa.
depends on how the cars were set up from new, but both are the same tub.
