Default Steel rotors for 997.1 GT3 RS PCCB's

Hi,

Sorry for re-asking a question that seems like it's been asked hundreds of times, but, the last post I found when I did a search was from back in 2010.

As per the title I'm looking to change my PCCB's on my 997.1 GT3 RS to steels, only problem is I'm in Scotland, bear with me

Over here we've got Alcons or Performance friction, both around $3400 for a set of 4 rotors and then about $1k for pads.

I'm coming to Florida in May and was thinking about buying rotors and pads and taking them home in my luggage, only question is what should I go for?

The Alcon's get great reviews in Europe but I don't know if they're available in the US?

I've seen that Girodisc do rear replacements but don't know if fronts are available, can anyone confirm?

Cheers,
Martin

any of you switching from PCCB to steel and want some cash - I want to buy your very lightly used PCCB rotors/hats from 2010 or 2011 GT3 or GT3RS. (No other model or years)

Eduardo, can you pm me also? Thanks.

To Martin,

I switched from PCCBs to PF direct drive 2 kit on my 996 GT3 and couldn't complaints. Looking at the options for my 08 RS as well. Alcons seems to be a bit more expensive back then (3 years ago) compare to PFCs but not sure about now.

You always have a fallback of using direct bolt on OEM 997.2 rotors for front and back or just on the fronts and use an OEM 997 turbo rotor in the rear only to still utilize the parking brake and they are cheaper than the GT3s. One the front 997.2 rotors, the hats and spacing are perfect except you have to either take down the inner lip of the pad 2mm or space the caliper away from the spindle by 2mm. I found this in an older post and the guy ran 18 inch cow c10s no problem

What is the difference in Cup car front calipers and GT3 front calipers?

Datax,

I'm not sure about prices in the US but in the UK the Alcons aren't that much more expensive. As for performance I don't know anyone who uses PF personally but have read good reviews about them, plus Eduardo is doing me a good deal so I'm happy to go with them.

As for the Alcons, I have a friend who runs a 996 RS with Alcons and PAgid RS29's and it isn't funny how hard he brakes I have never seen someone be so brutal with the middle pedal yet they last a season of DE's. Another friend who has a 997.3 GT3 RS (with PCCB's) can pull away on the straights but get's reeled in every time under braking.

Tursibo996, again not from my experience but from people I know standard rotors can be trashed in only a few hard DE days so for the small increase in price for PF's to me it's worth it if you intend doing a few DE's a year, time will tell

Cheers,
Martin

PFC or AP Racing front rotors, stock .2RS rear rotors.
