I tried 1/2" extension and it didn't work. Are some different than others?

Just a datapoint for comparison, the same job can be done with a set of opening pliers for $10.50. There's engineering work involved in creating the Manthey/Orbit tool, but I'd much rather have a reasonably priced, multi-purpose tool than some eyecandy milled out of diamond-grade whatever.

Have been using this for the past two years and they work without fail. Saved $170 on instruction and that's a much better investment.

I thought Orbit tool was a waste, so I bought a long hex bolt with a couple of nuts to add grip.

After borrowing Randy's Orbit Tool, I love it. Its one of those things that just becomes more and more convenient the more you use it.

20+ wheel changes x 4 myself and not counting others done by mechanics. You may have dirt track wheel change experience but I know my own CL process alright.

Maybe it's my particular predicament, but my trackside tools are prone to mysterious disappearance. I've lost pressure gauges, pyrometers and countless other tools. Hence I'm going the cheapskate route these days. Fewer specialized tools and smaller-ticket items, for which I won't shed a tear if borrowed and never returned...
